    A Dudley care home has been put into special measures, external and told to improve the way it manages medicines following an inspection.

    Castle Meadows on Dibdale Road looks after 36 people and specialises in those living with dementia and disabilities, but the Care Quality Commission rated it inadequate in the categories of safety and management.

    Another inspection will take place later this year.

    Mark Brunner, a manger for Castle Meadows, said that since the inspection the home had worked closely with the CQC and Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group to improve services.

    Worcester Hockey Club has plans to build a new £2.5m centre.

    It hopes to build it on the Old Porcelain Ground off Droitwich Road (pictured below) and it would be a joint venture with the Royal Grammar School.

    Councillors will be asked to consider the proposals next week and if they grant planning approval, it's expected to open in September 2020.

    He matched his fellow off-spinner Gareth Batty who earlier claimed eight wickets as Surrey were set a victory target of 272 at Edgbaston.

    The firm running bus services in Staffordshire and Worcestershire has signalled it's looking at spinning off its UK buses arm, First Bus.

    First Group, under fire from an activist investor, has today reported annual results which included losses of £97.9m, narrower than £327m a year earlier.

    The firm is also seeking a buyer for its Greyhound buses operations in the US and is carrying out a review of its whole business.

    Its UK-based First Bus arm - which operates services around Stoke-on-Trent and Worcestershire - could also be sold or merged with other partners.

    A former orphanage is set to be converted into retirement flats after standing empty for 11 years.

    Cheshire East Council has approved plans for the Grade II listed Webb House in Crewe to be converted into 54 apartments., external

    The building was built in the 1900s but after being occupied by British Rail and then the NHS, it's been disused since 2008.

    The proposals include a swimming pool and gym on the site.

    Andrew Smith is managing director of Smith Francis Tools in Digbeth and has blamed BT Openreach for not upgrading its local service to faster fibre broadband.

    He's estimated his firm wastes £15,000 every year because the base and the West Bromwich office can't communicate efficiently and end up duplicating work.

    BT Openreach says it's working to improve broadband speeds in Birmingham and promised to "take a closer look" at Mr Smith's area of Digbeth.

    A police force has given a job to a man who was initially not employed because he was white, heterosexual and male.

    In February, a tribunal ruled Cheshire Police had discriminated against Matthew Furlong by rejecting him over his sexual orientation, race and sex.

    The case was settled out of court and the 25-year-old will now begin police training in September.

    Deputy Chief Constable Julie Cooke said it had led to the force looking "very carefully" at its recruitment practice.

    An NHS trust says it's confident a contract to complete work on the delayed £350m Midland Metropolitan Hospital will be signed in the next few weeks.

    The Smethwick site was left two-thirds finished after the collapse of construction company Carillion in January last year. It had been due to be completed in October 2018.

    Now, Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust has told the BBC it's expecting the government to approve the awarding of the final contract to get the hospital over the line.

    If all goes well, work is expected to restart in October, clearing the way for the new hospital to open in 2022.
