  1. Hospital A&E back in the firing linepublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 31 July 2019

    BBC Shropshire

Telford's accident and emergency department could be hit by "short term suspensions of service" because of staff shortages.

In November, a plan to shut the A&E at the Princess Royal Hospital overnight was scrapped at the 11th hour after the hospital trust said it had managed to recruit extra staff.

However, staffing levels remain considerably below those recommended by the College of Emergency Medicine and papers going before the hospital trust board meeting tomorrow highlight "concerns" with the "sustainability" of the department.

    PRH A&E

An Emergency Department Oversight meeting earlier this month was told "the situation at PRH was close to the situation faced last year when the overnight closure of the PRH emergency department was considered".

The hospital trust said it had seen increased demand at A&Es this year, while the availability of locum staff, who fill gaps in the rota, has fluctuated.

  17. New group 'supporting team and manager'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 31 July 2019

Fans should support Coventry City Football Club in whatever way they see fit, according to the co-chair of a new supporters group.

Organisers say the new group, based at the original supporters club on Freehold Street in Coventry, is non-political and has a different agenda from those already in existence.

Sue Medlock is one of the organisers and explained why the group had been set up.

    Quote Message

The club is obviously in a very difficult position with the things that are going on.. off the field and so this is about supporting the team and the manager in whichever way our members feel they want to. So It's not about supporting the owners or not supporting the owners and so on and so forth. It's nothing to do with that. It's about supporting the team."
