    Counterfeit goods with an estimated retail value of about £70,000 have been seized from a unit in Birmingham.

    Perfume, clothing and footwear were removed along with a vehicle containing fake items, said the city council.

    The seizure on Wednesday is part of an ongoing operation targeting organised crime groups involved in the importation, distribution and supply of counterfeit goods.

    A 19-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of murder after the body of Keeley Bunker, 20, was found in Wigginton Park, Tamworth.

    One tribute described her as being a "beautiful soul" and went on: "You are going to be missed by everyone lucky enough to have ever met you!"

    A woman found dead in Staffordshire woodland is believed to be Keeley Bunker, 20, of Tamworth, police said.

    A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after the discovery of a body on Thursday.

    Cordons remain in place as investigation continue and forensics officers have been seen in an area of Wigginton Park just off Edgar Close.

    Flowers and tributes have also been left at the park - a number of them naming Keeley.

    Police said they had increased their presence in the area and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow.

    Coventry University has launched an investigation after a video published online seemingly featured two students in boxing equipment fighting in the city.

    More than 280,000 people have viewed the video online after it was posted on Wednesday night.

    It shows two wearing boxing gloves and headgear fighting in what's believed to be an underpass in the city.

    A spokesperson from the university said it was "aware of the incident which we are currently investigating.

    "We do not tolerate violence or anti-social behaviour of any kind as stated in the university’s code of conduct.

    The welfare and wellbeing of our students is a matter of utmost important to us."

    West Midlands Police said the incident had not been reported.

  5. Firefighters help passengers stuck on cliff railwaypublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 20 September 2019

    Firefighters were called out to help passengers on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway yesterday evening, when it got stuck halfway up the hill.

    One of them went down to the carriage using a rope, to offer reassurance and others were then able to get the carriage down using the manual release.

    The incident happened at around 18:40 and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said nobody was hurt.

    A man arrested after a woman's body was found is being questioned on suspicion of murder, police say.

    The 19-year-old woman was found dead after officers were called to Roman Way in Tamworth shortly after 21:00 on Thursday.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received reports of someone in the water near Edgar Close, but crews were unable to save her.

    A 19-year-old man remains in police custody for questioning, said Staffordshire Police.

  10. Harper Adams named Modern University of the Yearpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 20 September 2019

    Harper Adams University near Newport in Shropshire has been named the Modern University of the Year by The Times, external newspaper.

    It's the second time it's been given the honour and it also finished runner-up as the overall University of the Year.

    The news came out as the latest students celebrated their graduation today.

    The university, which specialises in agricultural courses, was ranked 17th in the The Sunday Times Good University Guide list - the first time a so-called modern university has finished inside the top 30.

    Modern universities are defined as those established after 1992.

    Its previous-best came in 2016, when it was ranked 36th.

    Vice-Chancellor David Llewellyn said: "These results will really help fly the flag for higher education in Shropshire."

  11. Police thank motorists after 'peaceful' protestpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 20 September 2019

    The police have thanked motorists for their patience after this morning's climate change protest which held up vehicles in the centre of Worcester.

    The West Mercia force said about 40 people had gathered on Worcester Bridge and that its officers had been "engaging with the people involved in the protest this morning to help ensure the event was safe for both those taking part and the public".

    Louise Davis was among the protesters in Birmingham and she said today was the first time she had joined a demonstration.

    "It feels important to do something now," she said.

    Climate change protesters in Coventry city centre have taken part in a "die-in" organised by the group Extinction Rebellion.

    Climate change protester Oliver Vlaytchev 24 from Birmingham, says he believes all the attention on Brexit at the moment is "distracting" us from the bigger issue.

    "[The] need to change is the real issue at hand and outlast our natural expiry date," he said.

    "When I was a teenager and throughout my youth [I’ve been] changing my personal life, cutting down plastic consumption, use of public transport, single use plastic, cut down on meat," he added.

    "Let’s get our priorities right and focus on real issues at hand rather than be warring tribes focusing on petty things such as oil, immigration."
