Nick Haves, 46, from Sheriffhales, is trying to raise £59,000 to pay for the treatment privately.

If he does not have this treatment in a matter of weeks, he'll need to have radiotherapy instead.

A crowdfunding page has been set up. He says side effects of the radiation could include sight loss, seizures, mood swings and memory loss.

Friends and family of Christel Callow, from nearby Shifnal, were successful last month in raising the money for her to have the proton beam therapy.
