    Coventry Blaze lost 3-4 at home to Guildford Flames in ice hockey's Challenge Cup last night, after the visitors scored late to take the game to overtime.

    The Flames then scored just 15 seconds into the extra period to take the two points, but the one point Blaze collected will keep their hopes alive of getting out of the group stages.

    With just two points separating the three teams in Coventry's group, wins against Cardiff Devils next Wednesday and Guildford the following Saturday would see them progress.

    The leader of Shropshire Council has said "there is a strong argument" that having more than 150 town and parish councils in the county "is far too many".

    Peter Nutting said: “I will be having lots of discussions with the town and parish council sector over the next few months but some change is, I believe, inevitable.”

    He is also looking to change the Shropshire Council ward boundaries, to make them reflect the population more accurately.

    He said the Radbrook and Shifnal wards are 30% bigger than average and some in the south of the county were 10% smaller.

    Mr Nutting said he wrote to the Boundary Commission for help, but was told, "they do not intend to review Shropshire Council divisions or external boundaries in Shropshire in the foreseeable future".

    So he is asking the council to draw up its own plans.

    To mark 120 years, the hippodrome's going to put on several circus-themed performances tomorrow with free tours and workshops, external.

    A 23-year-old man from Hereford been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a collision outside Shobdon Primary School in Herefordshire this morning.

    West Mercia Police said the incident happened at 06:15 and the B4362 in both directions remains closed as a result

    The school is still open however.

    The owner of Supercuts has confirmed it is going into administration, with 1,200 jobs on the line.

    Birmingham-based Regis UK, which operates 220 salons across the UK, including five in the West Midlands has brought in administrators Deloitte.

    Rob Harding, from Deloitte, said the retail environment in the UK "remains extremely challenging" and that Regis UK Limited had been "seeking to address this through a restructuring of its business".

    A year ago, the BBC reported Regis UK was seeking a rescue deal to stay afloat, but had faced criticism from landlords that this CVA was being used to cut rents.

    Regis said at the time that it faced a "perfect storm" of falling customer numbers, higher wages and higher pension costs.

    Mr Harding said today "restructuring and sale options" for the business were being "fully considered and explored".

    The skipper's scored in successive games and played a central role in Villa's comeback to beat Brighton last weekend.

    The result lifted Villa to mid-table and was in front of England head coach Gareth Southgate.

    A campaign to name one of Britain’s new warships HMS Coventry has been discussed in Parliament.

    Last month, the government announced £1.25bn plans to build a new generation of Royal Navy frigates.

    Councillors in Coventry have launched the campaign, external which has won the backing of city MPs, external and the West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, external.

    They say with Coventry becoming UK City of Culture in 2021, "the time is right" to restore the link with the navy.

    Six vessels have borne the name of the city over the years, most notably the fifth which was sunk in the Falklands War with the loss of 19 crew.

    One member of the Disabled Photographers' Society (DPS) said taking pictures was "my life".

    Photos displayed at Hatton in Warwickshire, ranging from skylines to nature shots, were judged by photographer Ray Spence.

    He said photography could be "enjoyed by everyone", regardless of disability.

    Trailing at half-time to Andraz Sporar's deflected shot, they scored twice in the space of five second-half minutes through Romain Saiss and a penalty by Raul Jimenez.

    Substitute Diogo Jota was sent off in the 87th minute for two yellow cards in the space of a minute but Wolves held on to secure a win.

    The match was officially played behind closed doors because of racist chanting and banners during a Europa League play-off match at the Tehelne Pole stadium.
