    Free Covid-19 testing kits are being distributed in Bromyard today, Herefordshire Council says.

    The site at the Co-op store is in addition to three others testing sites at Merton Meadow car park in Hereford, Broad Street car park in Leominster and Wilton Road car park in Ross-on-Wye.

    The council also has a number of symptom-free testing sites available.

    The West Midlands County Line Task Force worked with Warwickshire Police to raid on a property on Thursday.

    Police released footage of the operation leading to a number of suspects being taken into custody.

  6. Theatre set to reopen in Maypublished at 10:19 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

    Birmingham Hippodrome has announced its reopening plans.

    The theatre will welcome members of the public back on the 25 May with the Van Gogh Alive show.

    It will then reopen for live performance on 24 August with the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Tell Me on a Sunday, starring Jodie Prenger.

    Fiona Allan, artistic director and chief executive at Birmingham Hippodrome said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank our audiences for all the support you have shown during our extended closure.

    "Just knowing how many people were counting on us to find a way through the pandemic and make sure the Hippodrome could reopen again on the other side, kept me and the team determined and motivated through the last 13 months."

    Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a girl was sexually assaulted at a railway station

    Between 22:00 and 22:30 on 15 April, a girl was sexually assaulted at Gravelly Hill railway station in Birmingham, by a man she met earlier in the evening.

    Officers from British Transport Police want to hear from anyone who was at the station at the time and may have information.

    They are particularly keen to speak to a member of the public who spoke to three people, including the victim, sat in the station’s shelter that evening.

  13. Man seriously injured by falling branchpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 28 April 2021

    A man has been seriously injured by a falling tree branch in Staffordshire.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it had received a 999 call at 12:51 to Stapenhill Gardens, Main Street, Burton-upon-Trent, where crews found colleagues from the fire service working to release the man from underneath the large branch.

    Paramedics gave the man advanced trauma care on scene before he was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care.

    A teenage cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a car.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to Coombes Lane in Longbridge, Birmingham at 21:56 on Tuesday.

    Bystanders were treating the boy when paramedics arrived, it said.

    “Following emergency treatment at the scene by ambulance staff, he was then transported to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment," a spokesperson said.
