    Cash and drugs thought to be cannabis have been seized at a house in Rugby.

    Police officers broke into the house at around 07:00 and a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of class A drug offences.

    People going back to a shopping centre in Solihull are being warned there will be limits on how many people are allowed in at a time when it reopens.

    From Monday, about two-thirds of stores at the Touchwood Centre will be open on the day non-essential shops are allowed to reopen.

    Manager Tony Elvin told the BBC they've made changes to allow people to social distance including one-way systems and restricting how many people are in the centre at any one time.

    "I'm sure people will come back. I think people will be nervous, remember how we felt when we first went into a supermarket during lockdown and there will be some nervousness but hopefully the procedures we've put in place will help people feel safe," he added.

    Hereford's swimming pool will not reopen until next year, because of major flood damage.

    Halo Leisure, which runs the site, said it was working to repair electrical damage caused in the February floods and originally estimated the work would take six months.

    The coronavirus outbreak meant work had to be suspended until May and there remains a limit on the number of people who can work on the site.

    A girl has suffered "potentially serious injuries" after coming of her bike in Church Stretton this morning.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to Sandford Avenue at 08:30 and took her to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for trauma care.

    The scientists involved say they hope by using a range of new drugs to target Covid-19's most serious symptoms, they can reduce how badly it affects patients.

    The colder, wetter weather's led to water supply problems clearing up in Wolverhampton, Severn Trent Water has said.

    People living in Wednesfield, Essington, Coppice Farm and New Invention saw their water pressure fall or even lose supply altogether.

    Some even needed doorstep deliveries as the water firm blamed increased demand from people at home due to lockdown and the recent hot weather.

    But days of showers and cooler temperature's reduced demand and Severn Trent said the supply was back to normal.

    A man has been arrested and weapons including a cricket bat seized after "targeted" violence on a town street left four people hurt, police have said.

    A large group of people armed with weapons were reported to be fighting on Lewis Street, Walsall, last night.

    West Midlands Police said the four injured suffered head injuries and two needed hospital treatment, although their injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.

    Weapons were seized including a knife and a cricket bat and a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in custody.

    The force said officers had already established it was a targeted incident and the people involved knew each other.

  15. Town centre streets to be pedestrianisedpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 11 June 2020

    Two Shrewsbury town centre streets will be pedestrianised when shops open on Monday, to help people maintain a safe distance from one another.

    Diversions are being set up to keep both High Street and Shoplatch clear of traffic, and it's being done on a trial basis under special powers granted to local councils.

    The closures will be in place between 11:00 and 18:00.

    The leader of Shrewsbury Town Council, Alan Mosley, said that while "One of Shrewsbury’s charms is its narrow streets and medieval road layout", more space was neded to help people visit in safety.

    A senior police officer who spent more than three weeks in hospital with coronavirus said it had been a "massive boost" to return to work this week.

    Ch Supt Phil Dolby, of West Midlands Police, was admitted to Worcester Royal Hospital on 29 March and later placed on a ventilator for 13 days before being discharged in April.

    He returned to work for a few hours from Monday and told BBC Breakfast today, external it had made a big difference.

    "I have to be careful around my hours. Both my wife and my superintendent have both got red cards they can show me if they need to to tell me to stop doing so many hours."

    Shrewsbury Town have offered new deals to five players and released four.

    The five considering the contract offers are Omar Backles, Josh Laurent, Ryan Barnett, Harry Burgoyne and Cameron Gregory.

    Joe Murphy, Romain Vincelot, Lifumpa Mwandwe and Kian Taylor are the players to leave and there are also five loan players due to return to their parent clubs, including goalkeeper Max O'Leary, who made more than 30 appearances for Shrewsbury.

    There are another 16 players who are still under contract at the club.

    Two surveys have been carried out into the 12-year-old pool and a pressure test to check for leaks will be undertaken next week.

    The local authority said more investigations could then be needed, meaning the pool may be out of action even when government restrictions on swimming are lifted.

  20. Cyclist dies after falling off bikepublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 11 June 2020

    A man in his 70s has died after falling off his bicycle at Shilton in Warwickshire.

    The police said he was found unconscious at 12:30 on Tuesday, near the Hilltop Garden Centre on Shilton Lane.

    He was taken to University Hospital Coventry with a head injury, but died yesterday.

    Warwickshire Police is investigating, but believes no other vehicles were involved.
