A new scheme aims to get more black youngsters in Birmingham playing cricket.
Warwickshire County Cricket Club is launching the project early next year., external
Chief executive Stuart Cain said there had been a drop-off in interest from the black community in recent years.
"Fifteen or 20 years ago in areas such as Handsworth, it was a really vibrant sport, you had really vibrant clubs. It wasn't just about the cricket, it was about the social side as well. That has fallen away a bit in recent years," he said.
The club said they would target primary and secondary schools in the north west of the city and budding cricketers would have the chance to improve with Handsworth Cricket Club.
Warwickshire's Cricket Development Manager, Eaton Gordon, said he was confident they can see more homegrown black cricketers.
"Just come and try it, we will provide places and opportunities for these youngsters to come and try cricket. I am 100% sure that, once we get them playing, we will find the talent."
A woman has suffered serious injuries after a lit firework was reportedly thrown at her and exploded.

A man wearing a face mask is reported to have thrown the firework before running off towards the town centre.
Officers said the woman, aged in her 30s, had suffered potentially life-changing injuries to her face and legs, and remains in hospital.
West Bromwich Albion have paid tribute to World Cup-winning England midfielder Nobby Stiles who managed the Baggies in the 1980s.
The former Manchester United player who had prostate cancer and advanced dementia has died aged 78.
As well as the World Cup, Stiles won two English league titles and the 1968 European Cup with Manchester United.
He moved into management and had a brief spell in charge at West Brom during the 1985-86 season.
The club said they were proud to have had him serve in charge and in a tweet said, external: "Farewell to the most famous grin in English football. Rest in peace, Nobby."

An organisation representing dairy farmers is attempting to measure the scale of recruitment difficulties in the sector.
The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, wants employers to respond to its survey.
It says it is concerned the problems with hiring will get worse when the UK leaves the EU in January and hiring foreign workers becomes harder.
In response, the government says it is working to make sure "there is a long term strategy for the food and farming workforce, as part of future immigration policy".
