    The Met Office has, external put out a yellow alert and said there could be injuries from slips and falls along with travel disruption.

    The warning runs from 18:00 today until 10:00 on Tuesday.

    The sites at Castle Vale Stadium and Maypole Youth Centre shut yesterday but the city council said the closure decision would be reviewed each hour., external

    The number of places having their bin collections cancelled today due to the wintry weather is increasing.

    Sandwell Council said, external pavement and road conditions have forced them to suspend household waste collections and recycling collections have already been suspended due to staff shortages.

    In Walsall, external, Wolverhampton, external and the Staffordshire Moorlands, external, local councils said collections would continue but warned of disruption away from main, treated roads.

    A group that helps medical staff get in and out of work in bad weather said it had been in high demand at the weekend.

    West Midlands 4x4 Response is run by a team of volunteer drivers and Simon Croft, from the group, said they have been busy.

    "I have been lucky enough to respond a couple of times over the last couple of weeks, helping out a senior registrar in one instance who got stuck and spent two hours after a 12-hour shift trying to get home," he said.
