    A new athletics track could be laid at Arena Birmingham at a cost of £1.2m.

    The current track, installed in 1991, is showing "physical fragility due to age and usage”, a report to Birmingham City Council said.

    The report also said a new 200m track would enable the venue to put forward bids to host events such as the European and World Indoor Championships.

    It added: “It is essentllial that the track is replaced to ensure the sustainability of Birmingham as a venue for major indoor athletics events for another 10 to 15 years."

    The NHS has been setting out all the ways Captain Sir Tom Moore has helped them with his fundraising.

    The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden, died with coronavirus in Bedford Hospital on Tuesday.

    About £120,000 of the money raised was donated to the SaTH Charity, which supports work at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust.

    The money was spent on various items and schemes including:

    • Televisions to support patients who are unable to have visitors
    • More than 30 picnic benches to enable staff to get outside for breaks
    • Welfare support through a counselling service
    • Hand creams for staff who continually use hand gels and PPE

    The hospitals are also looking into the possibility of creating gardens in Shrewsbury and Telford which will be named in memory of Capt Sir Tom.

    Ring and Ride operators, unable to carry out usual transport duties, have instead been offering free trips to NHS staff.

    West Midlands Ring and Ride shuttle buses have been used to make 10,313 journeys to and from New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and another 9,472 to Walsall Manor Hospital.

    Another 7,641 staff used the service to and from Russell’s Hall Hospital in Dudley and and 7,005 trips have been made to the Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield.

    A maximum of two staff are carried on each bus trip to allow social distancing.

    The service was formerly used to transport older people but demand fell due to the pandemic so bosses used the buses to take NHS staff to and from work.

    A fire on a train between Birmingham Moor Street and Leamington Spa means there are no trains running along that line at the moment.

    National Rail Enquiries said services were likely to be cancelled or delayed by up to 45 minutes.

    And it expects the disruption to continue until 15:30.

    The number of coronavirus cases at the Royal Stoke Hospital is slowly falling, but its chief executive has warned that could change.

    Tracy Bullock said: "We're holding out breath yet, we're just waiting to see because history tells us us that it could pop back up again at any time."

    Two teenage boys charged with murdering 15-year-old Keon Lincoln have made an appearance at crown court.

    Keon died from gunshot and stab wounds after being attacked by a group of youths on Linwood Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, last month.

    The defendants - a 14-year-old from Birmingham and a 15-year-old from Walsall - appeared at Birmingham Crown Court.

    They were remanded into custody and will next appear in March.

    The two boys, who cannot be named because of their ages, are both charged with murder.

    The 14-year-old faces a further charge of possessing a firearm while his co-defendant faces a second charge of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife.

    A provisional trial date has been set for October.

    The Severn Side flood barriers in Bewdley are being dismantled, 15 days after they were put up.

    A flood alert remains for the town and the Environment Agency said the River Severn could peak somewhere between 3.4 m (11.1ft) and 3.8m (12.5ft) on Friday.

    Last week the Environment Agency said it would not use the temporary barriers deployed at Beales Corner in the town, after they failed to hold back the river.

    A woman who chose to donate her eggs to help a woman to conceive a child said it "fulfilled a purpose" for her.

    Milly McMahon, 35, said she decided "later on in life" that having a child was not the right decision for her and helping another woman to have a child felt like the "right thing to do in the universe".

    Ms McMahon, a community nurse, who struggled with anorexia as a child, said she was told she may not be able to have children so being able to donate healthy eggs, she said, was "a miracle".

    "For me, I wanted to take control of my decision and do something positive," she said.

    "It really helped my self-esteem and my relationship with myself."

    Ms McMahon shared story with BBC Hereford & Worcester's "When are you having kids?" programme, which looks at the questions people ask others about fertility, family life.

    He was stretchered off after a collision with the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, not long after coming on as a second-half substitute.
