Read MoreTwo Grade II listed Georgian canal locks in Telford are being restored.
Turnip Lock and Hadley Park Lock, located in Hadley Park, date back to 1796, and are two of seven guillotine locks that ran along the Shrewsbury Canal, designed by Thomas Telford.
The restoration is to take three months with the cost estimated at £160,000.
Telford and Wrekin Council has secured £103,000 funding through money paid by developers to use on community projects.
Councillor Carolyn Healy said: “The Hadley locks are an important part of our rich, industrial history and what make our borough such a fascinating place to live and visit.
“They fell into disrepair after the canal was abandoned in the 1940s, and sadly their significance has largely gone unrecognised.
"I am really happy that we have been able to work with our partners to raise the funds needed for their restoration."
Some rail services between Wolverhampton and Telford Central stations have been cancelled due to a safety inspection.

Businesses in Shropshire know they need to become more environmentally friendly, but don't know how, the chief executive of the county's Chamber of Commerce has said.
It has been carrying out research and Richard Sheehan said there was also evidence that potential employees are put off joining firms without environmental policies.
Mr Sheehan said: "There is an awareness that something needs to happen, but there is not necessarily the awareness of what direction of travel they can take."
And he said firms want to know "where they can find the support and guidance they actually need".

Fiona Allan will leave the company in the autumn before moving to work with Opera Australia.
During the pandemic, Ms Allan has been a vocal advocate for more support for the arts as the theatre was left empty and unable to put on shows.
“Despite these challenges we have still reached more than 850,000 people," she said. "I have no doubt that Birmingham Hippodrome will emerge from this period stronger, more energised and resilient than ever.”
