    People who have objections can make representations about the plans until 8 September.

  4. CCTV appeal over attempted robberypublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 13 August 2021

    Police have released CCTV images in a bid to trace a man following an attempted robbery at a Metro station.

    It happened at about 19:20 BST on 1 June at The Hawthorns stop in Smethwick, when a man, who entered from the overbridge, began to shout at the victim, demanding his shopping bag and threatening to stab him, British Transport Police said.

    A tram arrived and the victim was able to leave.

    The force has released an image of a man whom officers believe may have information that can help with their investigation.

    A man who died in hospital after collapsing in Birmingham is the subject of a police appeal for help to identify him.

    He was discovered on Soho Road on 6 August, and was taken to City Hospital, police said.

    Before he died, the man, believed to be Polish, told nurses his name was Mariusz and that he was 51.

    His death isn't being treated as suspicious but authorities wish to establish his identity to inform next of kin, police say.

    They have released images of clothes he was wearing in the hope someone will recognise them.

    The new owners of Wolverhampton's Beatties department store building are looking to secure a contractor after plans to turn it into flats were approved.

    Private investor SSYS Beatties Ltd bought the building for £3m in February.

    Wolverhampton City Council said work to transform the site into 150 new homes was due to begin in 2022.

    The store was opened by James Beattie as a draper's shop in 1877 and remained in the family until House of Fraser took over in 2005.
