Stoke-on-Trent City Council is among at least 18 local authorities across the UK to confirm they are experiencing ongoing disruptions to their bin collection services.
Image source, Getty ImagesIt is due to staff self-isolating and a lack of heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers for bin lorries.
The Local Government Association told the BBC that the delays were primarily affecting garden waste.
However, some councils are also delaying recycling collections in order to prioritise general waste.

More volunteers are needed to help sort clothing donated for families being resettled in Shropshire from Afghanistan.
Image source, ReutersShropshire Supports Refugees said it had been so overwhelmed with clothing that it ran out of room to store items.
That has now been resolved, but it said it now needed more people to help.
Director Amanda Jones said the not-for-profit community interest company was also looking for more shoes, toiletries and toys for those resettling in the county.

An investigation is under way, following a house fire in Stoke-on-Trent that left a woman in hospital.
Image source, GoogleThe fire in a semi-detached house on Upper Belgrave Road (generic image above) in Normacot broke out at about 09:30 on Thursday and it took about two hours to put out.
The woman suffered burns to her arms and hand.
Today will be another cloudy day, with the chance of the odd spot of drizzle in places. In the afternoon, a few brighter spells may develop between the cloud. Highs of 20C (68F).
