  1. Bath Blitz: Your memories of WW2 living in Bathpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 13 May 2016

David Wilcox has got in touch with us as bomb disposal units work to safely remove a World War Two bomb found at a building site in Lansdown Road.

He shared his memories of the Bath Blitz when he and his family lived on The Triangle.

The house was bombed and his family were dug out unharmed by wardens, they walked through the Blitz to an air raid shelter and were left with the clothes they stood in and a £5 note which they found in the ruins.

He added: "I’m not surprised that they had no records of the bomb.

"In the fog of war proper records got lost and I was told that a pin board where all the unexploded bombs were recorded was knocked and their locations lost."

You can also read an eye-witness account of the raids of Peter Dickinson who was a teenager at the time - he gives his account of the bombing on the BBC WW2 People's War website.

Mr Dickinson writes: "I discovered later that we had a lucky escape, as a German bomber flying toward Lansdown Crescent had dropped three high explosive bombs that had fallen just in front of the Crescent, in a line directly toward our house; if they had been dropped only a few seconds later they would have fallen across the Crescent and on to our house."
