The director of cricket at Somerset County Cricket Club, Matt Maynard, is leaving the club after three seasons in charge.

Speaking to BBC Somerset's Claire Carter this morning, the CEO of the club, Lee Cooper said Matt was leaving after an internal review, but admitted players only found out hours before their vital match against Middlesex.

    Quote Message

The review has been ongoing for the last month, and we identified that having one individual responsible for everything cricket was too much for one man to deal with. The role will now be divided by two. Matt is good enough for one of them, but having held the position as director of cricket it was mutually decided that we will just move in a different direction. The players found out formally yesterday evening.

Parents in Gloucestershire are being urged to make sure their children have had a second MMR jab, after an outbreak of measles.

Three confirmed and six probable cases of measles in children and young adults have been reported recently in the county.

While measles is now uncommon in the UK thanks to the MMR vaccination, those who have not received it, or its 'top-up' second injection, are still at risk of contracting the disease.

Public Health England is asking parents to make sure their children have had two full doses of the vaccine.

It is important to be aware that it is never too late to have the vaccine, so if you’ve not received two doses of the vaccine in the past – or you’re unsure – speak to your GP. There’s no harm in receiving an additional dose where there is any uncertainty.
