    More than 30 wooden planters growing fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers have been installed along the streets and pavements of Bristol city centre.

    The pavement planters will be maintained by volunteers and provide fresh and free produce for residents, workers, restaurants and cafes.

    The scheme has been commissioned by Bristol City Centre BID - and is supported by charity Incredible Edible Bristol - and also aims to improve air quality in the centre of the city.

    A concert by the legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones is to take place next month.

    It's being staged at the County Ground in Bristol on 13 July.

    Officials from Bristol City Council's Licensing Committee gave the final go ahead earlier this morning.

    The event organisers have now granted the necessary licences for the staging of the event, the sale of alcohol, and the performance and sound check times.

    Bristol City Council is expected to unveil more plans to reduce air pollution later today to mark Clean Air Day.

    Mayor Marvin Rees, is hosting a conference to explore how to improve Bristol’s air quality.

    The council is already set to consult on two options for a Clean Air Zone in the centre of the city.

    But Ella Bissett MacEwen, a local parent, says it "should have happened yesterday".

    Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees is expected to announce more plans on how the city council will tackle air pollution later today.

    The council is already set to consult on two options for a Clean Air Zone in the centre of the city.

    One local parent said she was "shocked" by the the air pollution levels as she had chosen the city because it was "meant to be a green city".

    The family of a retired solicitor, who died after being swept overboard during a round the world yacht race, say more people may die unless changes are made to the event.

    Simon Speirs, 60, from Bristol, drowned in rough seas while competing in the 2017 Clipper Round the World Race.

    A Marine Accident Investigation Branch report on his death is published today.

    Mr Spier's family are urging race bosses to implement its recommendations.

    Wiltshire's preparing for this year's Summer Solstice celebrations.

    Thousands of people are expected at both Stonehenge and Avebury to watch the sunrise on the longest day.

    Stonehenge will close early this afternoon at 3pm and re-open at 7pm to allow people free access to the stones, until 8am tomorrow morning.

    People are being advised to plan their journeys and delays are expected on the A303.
