  1. Motorist killed on M11 namedpublished at 12:03
    Breaking

    A driver killed in a car fire on the M11 in Cambridgeshire on Wednesday has been named by police, external

    The driver is believed to be 43 year-old Foyzul Islam from Marlow Close, Rothwell, Northamptonshire. 

    Formal identification is yet to take place, however investigators are satisfied the driver was Mr Islam, and his family have been informed.

    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire understands that Cambridge United, external are in talks to sign Gillingham striker Ben Williamson.

     The 27-year-old scored three goals in a recent loan spell at the Abbey.    

  3. Ground being prepared to bring back fen skating to Littleportpublished at 11:16

    The diggers are out in Littleport this morning to prepare the ground for possible fen skating.

    The activity hasn't taken place in the village for about 100 years. 

    It's hoped the current cold snap will freeze the ground when it's deliberately flooded later today.   

  4. Travel: More problems on the A1published at 11:01

    There are further delays on the A1 this morning

    Barford Road in Little Barford is closed southbound at the A1 because of an accident.

    The A1 also remains closed northbound between Eaton Socon, St Neots and Buckden Roundabout in Buckden, because of a serious accident involving a minibus and a lorry.

  5. NHS out-of-hours GP service 12-hour wait 'clinically unsafe'published at 10:24

    Callers to out-of-hours GP services in the Wisbech area faced waits of more than 12 hours, posing a "significant risk to patient safety", a leaked report has revealed.

    The interim report by Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Group into Integrated Care 24, external (IC24), which runs non-emergency 111 and out-of-hours services in Norfolk and Wisbech, found deficiencies in call handling and a shortage of GPs with some patients waiting more than 12 hours for a response.

    During unannounced inspections following complaints, staff said they had been asked to alter their records. IC24 said it had addressed the issues.

    It'll be a cold and frosty start for many with some icy patches around. 

    The day will stay cold but it there will be plenty of winter sunshine, particularly in northern parts such as Peterborough. However, the raw northwesterly wind will make it feel bitterly cold.

  12. Travel: Roads remain closed due to floodspublished at 08:10

    Two main roads remain closed this morning in Cambridgeshire due to flooding. 

    The A1101 Wash Road in Welney is still closed in both directions between New Bedford River and Old Bedford River. 

    The North Bank in Whittlesey is also closed in both directions between the B1040 junction and the Northey Road junction.
