    A man caught drug driving in Peterborough was more than 100 times over the set limit, according to Cambridgeshire Police. 

    Gintars Garkajs, 30, of Earl Street, Wisbech, was stopped in his Audi A6 by police on Bourges Boulevard in January. 

    Tests showed he was 100 times over the limit for MDMA as well as being more than 10 times over set limits for cocaine. 

    He was sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates' Court to 18 weeks in prison and banned from driving for five years after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.

    Here's some interesting facts about Karl...

    He starts work at 04:00 and has to clear-up 30kg (66lb) of animal excrement a day.

    Since the sanctuary was established in 2012, Karl has nursed over 1,000 animals.

    Karl lives with the dogs in a specially-built kennel as his own home is under construction. At the moment he doesn't have access to running water or electricity.

    He shares his bed with Khan, a bullmastiff which is second-in-command.

    It's a journey that's lasted eight months, over 17,000 miles, been through 15 countries and taken a lot of pedal power.

    But now Callum Fairhurst from Soham is back in Blighty after completing a mammoth cycle journey in memory of his brother Liam, external, who died from cancer seven years ago.

    He described the experience as "amazing" and "unbelievable".

    A former Cambridgeshire taxi driver is set to claim a new world record for living with the most number of dogs.

    Karl Scarr from Cherry Hinton moved to Morocco to set up The Wild Animal Sanctuary, external for stray animals, after witnessing how they're treated while on a charity rally nine years ago.

    Peterborough City Hospital is no longer on a "significant internal incident" status.

    On Tuesday it said it was completely full and had no available bed space. Thirteen operations were also cancelled. 

    Managers say bed blocking does remain and space is limited.

    A private funeral will take place in Fen Ditton this afternoon for eight-year-old Tommi Miller who recently died from Leukaemia.

    Former England captain John Terry (bottom left) donated £1,600 to the family to pay for the funeral. 

    The footballer met Chelsea fan Tommi last year and when he was told of the boy's death he contacted the funeral parlour personally to make the arrangements.

    An exhibition on plans to build 600 homes in Littleport was held in the village last night.

    Manor Oak Homes hopes to build the properties on land between The Grange and the A10. 

    Some of the people I spoke to told me they're in favour of the homes being built, but are worried about the impact on local roads, GP surgeries and schools.

    A public consultation is going to take place in Peterborough after councillors said no to joining a proposed devolved government with the rest of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.

    Last night city councillors voted against the plans that could see an elected mayor and a billion pounds invested in the area over 30 years. 

    They decided a public consultation will now take place before a final decision is made at the end of June.

    A group representing GPs is warning that a chronic shortage of doctors in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will lead to fewer patients being seen.

    The Royal College of GPs says one in four posts will be vacant in the county within four years.
