    Amy Woodfield
    BBC News

Around 120 jobs are risk at The Nottingham building society as it plans to collaborate with a local estate agent and merge a number of its branches.

It's joining forces with Belvoir Group PLC - which trades under brands Belvoir, Northwood, Newton Fallowell and Lovelle.

Branches of The Nottingham that already provide an estate agency service will cease trading next month and operations will be transferred to the Belvoir Group.

The proposed branches for closure are in Enderby, Syston, Western Park, Market Harborough, Chatteris, Wisbech and Huntingdon.

The plans suggest eight other branches will be merged.

    The Nottingham

David Marlow - chief executive of The Nottingham - described it as "the end of an era".

He said affected staff members have been spoken to and is hoping some redeployment opportunities will be available.
