Thirteen rabbits were taken into care after a family in Longstanton worked out their two new boy bunnies were in fact, a couple.

"They bought the pets in good faith, but the problem is, it only takes 30 days for a rabbit to give birth, and an hour later they can conceive again," said Josh Flanagan, from Fenland Animal Rescue.

His team responded to reports of stray rabbits on an estate, and on Sunday took 13 away from the family's garden.

"We think there were up to 25 at one point and a number are on the loose, so we've had to set humane traps around the estate to round them up," Mr Flanagan added.

He took away six males, five females and two "tiny babies".

"The family was really upset about what had happened. They'd tried to do right by the animals and had tried to get help, but were just overwhelmed," he added.

"In the end they were just thankful that we had come along to help them."

An air ambulance regularly piloted by the Duke of Cambridge "narrowly avoided" a mid-air crash with a drone, a report said.

UK Airprox Board investigators said the Eurocopter 145, used by the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), missed the remote-controlled machine "by chance" when it came within 98ft (30m) of the emergency vehicle.

The incident happened 1,900ft (579m) above London on 26 August, at about 19:45.

There had been "high risk" of a crash, "endangering the EC145 and its crew" over a busy area, the  report , external said.

Prince William was not in the aircraft at the time, but the EAAA said it had been flown repeatedly by the royal during his work for the service.

The drone was flying above its permitted altitude and the near-miss was the highest category of risk, the report stated.

The ambulance control room was contacted by the pilot telling them to inform the police.

The drone pilot was never found.

In January, Prince William said he would be  leaving his role as a pilot  for the air ambulance charity to spend more time in London, where his children will be schooled.
