  7. County council election: Current make-uppublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 5 May 2017

    Adam Jinkerson
    BBC Local Live

The results have started to come in for the Cambridgeshire County Council election, but let's take a quick look at how the council was made up in 2013...

    Inside Shire Hall

Normally we talk about it being a Labour-run or Conservative-run council. However, Cambridgeshire County Council has been under no overall control for the past four years.

That's meant that no party had a majority - or more than half the number of councillors. So if a party wanted to get their policy through, they had to get support from councillors from other parties.

From 1997 to 2013 the Conservatives had control of the council, which it will be hoping to regain this time around. However, the opposition parties will be looking to overturn that.

There are 61 councillors being elected this year, so one party will need to get 31 seats to get a majority.

  8. County council election: All results from East Cambridgeshire inpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 5 May 2017

    Hannah Olsson
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire political reporter

Results are in from East Cambridgeshire:

    • Conservatives - Seven seats
    • Lib Dems - One seat

The Conservatives have held six and gained one seat from UKIP.

The Lib Dems have also held one seat.
