Highways England has released new pictures showing how construction work on a £1.5bn upgrade to the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon is coming along.

The shots show the road's new foundations, plus columns for some of the project's 34 new bridges.

Here's one aerial snap below - we'll bring you more soon.

The 12-mile (19km) stretch will include widening seven miles (11km) of the A14 in each direction, a major new bypass south of Huntingdon, widening a three-mile (5km) section of the A1 and demolishing a viaduct at Huntingdon.

Here's an artist impression of how it will eventually look...

Chris Griffin, A14 project manager, said: "We are continuing to make good progress throughout the scheme.

"I am pleased that the outline for most of the new road's path has now been created and it won't be long before some of our first structures are completed."

Work is expected to be completed by 2020.

Teachers put him in isolation and made him study by himself because they said his new haircut was too short.

But the next day he was called in by staff and told the style was not suitable, his mother Elizabeth Steel said.

She pulled him out of school completely in protest, but says he's going back to classes this morning.

"The board of governors has decided the policy is not clear on the haircut so they're going to allow Damon back into school but they are going to review the policy over the summer holidays and I'm [hoping] that it will be changing."

The school, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust group rather than county council-run, has said it didn't want to comment on the matter.

    Jozef Hall
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

Nearly half the plots at a travellers' site in the county are being illegally rented to non-travellers, a BBC investigation has discovered.

Some travellers on Smithy Fen in Cottenham have been stockpiling caravans for the past six months and advertising them as holiday homes on property websites such as Rightmove and Primelocation.

The picture on the left shows the site 11 months ago, with the right picture, taken last week, showing how the site has grown in size.

South Cambridgeshire District Council served 22 legal notices earlier today, ordering the owners to remove some caravans within 28 days or face prosecution.

Meanwhile, up to 15 families now need somewhere new to live. The council is helping seek appropriate properties.

There are 49 legal pitches at Smithy Fen and in general each one is made up of a static caravan, a touring caravan and a brick-built day room.

Nick Wright, deputy leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "Our thorough and detailed investigation at Smithy Fen has made sure we have been able to take this swift and appropriate action.

"We are clear that the 22 pitches we have served notices on are in breach and they have 28 days to comply. If this does not happen we will take further legal action."

The council asked us to not approach Smithy Fen residents while enforcement orders are active.
