Roadworks are causing "chaos and mayhem" in Bar Hill, according to residents.

The works started on Saturday on Saxon Way outside the Tesco superstore as part of the A14 improvement scheme.

Temporary traffic lights lead to gridlock and traffic backing up on the A14.

South Cambridgeshire District Councillor for Bar Hill, Bunty Waters, said the situation should now improve.

"I'm pleased to say it looks as though they have taken away the traffic lights and the movement of traffic is much better," she said.

A spokesperson for Cambridge Water, which is carrying out the works, said: "We appreciate the initial traffic management system has caused delays and was raised by Cambridgeshire Highways who put a traffic diversion system in place to ease congestion.

"Traffic is being diverted via Crafts Way and Saxon Way.

"We would urge all motorists to ensure they follow the diversion signs that are in place and not to block the roundabout to help ease congestion."

The works are due to last until Sunday.

Nicholls, 39, is a cult hero at Foxhall, where he was a member of the all-conquering 1998 team which won the Elite League, Knock-out Cup and Craven Shield.

Racing as an individual, he also won the British Under-21 Championship that year.

The Witches trail Peterborough by four points after the first leg but with the return meeting taking place at Foxhall they should be confident.

Team Manager Ritchie Hawkins says the team still needs to perform.

"We are behind - I know it felt like a victory, but we are four points behind," he said.

"We've seen this year when we got beaten by Edinburgh at home that if we do slack off we get punished, so we need to go and do the job still."

  3. Former March Mayor calls for more defibrillatorspublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

Rob Skoulding vowed to install 10 of the devices when he was mayor in 2015.

    Defibrillator

Mr Skoulding said: "My aim is to have everyone within four minutes of a defibrillator, because after that time, the oxygen stops going to the brain and the brain starts dying.

"I would like to get into school and get them trained as young people are the future."

There are currently 33 defibrillators in the town.

"They've given themselves a tough job to do in the second leg, but it's not until it's over. Anything can happen on the night in 15 heats of speedway."

    Stuart Bailey
    BBC News

The search for missing airman Corrie Mckeague at a landfill near Cambridge is to resume today.

But detectives re-checked data and concluded it was still the location where there was the highest likelihood of finding Corrie.

However, police say the nature of waste disposal and its movement is not a precise science, hence the requirement to extend the search.

The new excavation will focus on an area called Cell 22 - next to the site of the original search - and is likely to take around four to six weeks.

Mr Mckeague, 23, who is based at RAF Honington in Suffolk, disappeared after a night out in Bury St Edmunds in September last year.
