Teen's month-long camp-a-thon raises nearly £1,000 for NHSpublished at 10:28 British Summer Time 6 May 2020
A keen scout who loves being outdoors has been camping out in his garden for the past month to raise funds for NHS Charities Together, external.
James Davies, 13, from Epping in Essex, hoped to raise £50 when he set up his tent on 1 April, but has so far been donated more than £900.
The Year Eight pupil, who also cooks his lunch outside, said he has been "overwhelmed by people’s generosity".
Mum Karen, who says goodnight to him out of the bathroom window every evening, said: "To camp for a whole week would be quite tough, so what he is doing is amazing - I am really proud of James."
