    For four days, gymnasts have been riding their bikes, doing the splits, jumping and roller skating to raise funds for the NHS.

    Members of Northamptonshire Trampoline Gymnastics Academy, external took part in an exercise relay and set themselves a £1,000 target.

    Yesterday, we told you they had raised about £4,000 but that total is now at more than £5,000.

    Congratulations to everyone who took part.

    As the weekend approaches, Hertfordshire Police has thanked us for adhering to the "extraordinary restrictions" placed upon us during the coronavirus pandemic and reminded us that, while some of the restrictions have changed, "lockdown measures have not been lifted".

    Assistant Chief Constable Nathan Briant said: "Our officers will always use common sense and discretion.

    "In the first instance, we will engage, explain, and encourage – we will only enforce as a last resort.

    "Thanks to our officers engaging with the public in this way, we have rarely had to enforce the government regulations."

    He added that people had "sacrificed so much over these last seven weeks... no-one will want to jeopardise the progress we’ve made by failing to comply with the ongoing restrictions".

    The region's football league teams - could see their seasons end today.

    The English Football League, external is due to speak to the clubs from Leagues One and Two and it's thought ending the season is the most likely outcome due to finance - the cost of testing, no fans through the gate and player contracts expiring are the major factors.

    Options to decide the outcome of the season include voiding it, using present placings or points per game.

    In League One, six clubs, including Peterborough United and Ipswich Town, have said they are determined to finish the League One season's remaining fixtures.

    Peterborough are sixth in the table with nine games to play and are three points off the automatic promotion places, while Ipswich are in 10th place.

    Of the other teams, Wycombe Wanderers are eighth with a game in hand. Points per game would put them up to third but weighted points per game would get them to fifth so a place in the play-offs could be at stake.

    MK Dons are in 18th place and Southend, in 22nd, are in the relegation zone.

    In League Two, Cambridge United are 16th, Colchester United are in sixth, Northampton Town are seventh and Stevenage are right at the bottom and at risk of dropping out of the Football League.

    Under a cloak of secrecy, every Thursday night, as part of the clap for carers event, a number of buildings in Cambridge are turned blue to show appreciation to care workers.

    Only the #ShineBright team, external know which iconic building will be chosen each week..

    Last night a solitary punter was bathed in blue as the vessel traveled along the River Cam under the Bridge of Sighs, at St John’s College.

    Professor Tim Whitmarsh, vice-master of the college, said: "We are pleased to lend our iconic Bridge of Sighs to the collective appreciation of the efforts and sacrifices of individual workers."

    The latest daily figures for the number of Covid-19 deaths in the region were released by the government, external on Thursday.

    In the BBC East region, statistics for each NHS hospital trust show a rise of 19 deaths.

    The figure reflects the number of deaths reported since the last figures and not the number of deaths in the past 24 hours.

    The total number of deaths at the region's hospitals is now 3,210. The increases were:

    ·Bedford: 2

    ·Addenbrooke's, Cambridge: 2

    ·East and North Hertfordshire: 1

    ·Colchester and Ipswich hospitals: 1

    ·Norfolk & Norwich Hospital: 2

    ·Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust (mental health services): 1

    ·North West Anglia (Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke hospitals): 6

    ·Northampton General: 2

    ·Princess Alexandra, Harlow: 1

    ·West Hertfordshire Hospitals: 1

    The total number of Covid-19 associated UK deaths is 33,614.
