    Some businesses who have been told they can come out of lockdown next month say they have not been given as much notice as they were hoping for.

    One suggestion is that pubs and restaurants should retain customers' phone numbers, so that they can be contacted if other customers test positive for Covid-19.

    Liz Hind, landlady of The Old Millwright's Arms in Aylesbury, received her guidance this morning.

    "It's a Yellow Pages of what I'm supposed to be doing. Every pub is going to have different circumstances and they've not given us the three weeks that they promised that they would give us.

    "So I've now got to work flat out for 11 days trying to get this in place for people."

    Instead of the normal LGBT+ gathering in the city centre, organisers are planning to take the celebrations online, as well as encouraging people to rainbow up their houses, streets and workplaces.

    Jo Caulfield, chairperson of Norwich Pride, said: "Over the years Norwich Pride has been hugely successful in getting shops, businesses and civic buildings in the city centre to fly the rainbow flag.

    To create the virtual march, Norwich Pride is asking people to send in, external rainbow films, photos and messages by 10 July.

    "We want to keep that fabulous party atmosphere that we all conjure in Chapelfield Gardens. We want everyone to celebrate all the talent we have in our city. Dance, song, magic, spoken word, music, hooping… what would you like to contribute towards our show?" it said.

    The Pride Show will be streamed from 14:00 on 25 July.

    There may be no Wimbledon this year, but those desperate for some tennis can watch or play the game on brand new courts at the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds.

    Two courts will be available from 1 July.

    John Griffiths, leader of West Suffolk Council, external, said: "It has long been our ambition to replace the old courts and move them to a more suitable setting within the gardens.

    "It is perhaps particularly important at this time, when many of us may have been struggling to get enough exercise, that there are these opportunities to enjoy sport for our physical as well as mental health."

    The authority invested £263,000 in the extension of the public gardens into the former Eastgate nursery, which includes the new public tennis courts, with funding help and approval from English Heritage.

    Titan Tennis will be offering coaching sessions, external on Saturday mornings, with players asked to ensure they follow social distancing guidelines.

  7. Mobile Covid-19 testing set up in Northamptonpublished at 08:57 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    A mobile Covid-19 testing station will be in Northampton for the next four days in support of the government's national testing programme.

    Testing is by appointment only and can be booked online, external.

    The mobile units will have an integrated one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive-through testing.

    The eligibility criteria for tests have been extended to include anyone with coronavirus symptoms which include a new, continuous cough, a high temperature, loss of or change in sense of smell or taste.

    Jonathan Nunn, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said it would offer "more Northampton people the chance to access testing closer to where they live".

  8. Wildlife trust sees rise in fires and litteringpublished at 08:23 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    One of the region's wildlife trusts says its reserves have experienced a larger number of fires, vandalism, an "unprecendented increase" in littering, and disturbance to habitats as a result of more people visiting as lockdown restrictions are eased.

    Essex Wildlife Trust, external said some of its reserves "have taken a battering as the lifting of some lockdown rules coincides with warmer weather leading to a surge of people outdoors".

    Among the desecration was a shot buzzard while a goose and a sheep were injured by an uncontrolled dog.

    Wildflowers have also been trampled, including rare orchids and oxlips at Westwood and Shadwell Wood nature reserves.

    Other incidents include:

    • Fires on open land at Langdon, Chafford, Woodham Fenn and Roding Valley
    • Suspected arson on a bird hide at Howlands Marsh
    • Windows were broken in at Chafford Gorges, gates ripped off their hinges at Langdon, fencing damaged at Oliver Road Lagoons and Two Tree Island

    There has also been illegal fishing and camping at several reserves.

    The Trust has issued a plea for visitors to respect reserves and follow its simple guidelines, external.
