    The damage was on a scale that had been inconceivable before the raid.

    The result was a shocking collapse of social order that caused thousands to flee and challenged notions of Britain's "Blitz spirit".

  5. Heritage Motor Centre becomes British Motor Museumpublished at 11:32

    The Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire is changing its name to the British Motor Museum. , external

    The museum houses the world's biggest collection of British cars.

    The British Motor Museum will close for the building work at the end of this month, reopening with a new £4m collection centre in February.

    It's part of a multimillion-pound investment by the trust that runs it, along with the Heritage Lottery Fund.   

  6. City Link prosecution: Thousands redundant on Christmas Evepublished at 11:13

    The Coventry-based firm, which employed 2,700 people across the UK, called in administrators on Christmas Eve.

    They announced thousands of job losses after a bid to buy the company failed.

    The three men were found not guilty of failing in a statutory duty to give 45 days notice to the secretary of state of potential job losses of 100 or more.

    A statement issued on behalf of the three former directors of the failed Coventry-based parcel firm City Link says they are "pleased at this morning's verdict."

    But their overwhelming feelings are sadness and regret that, despite their very best efforts in dreadful circumstances, they could not save City Link from insolvency and that so many people lost their jobs at the end of last year."

    Three former directors of failed parcel firm City Link have been found not guilty after being prosecuted by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

    The three were accused of  failing to inform the government they were planning to make staff redundant.

  11. Coventry dismiss ground speculationpublished at 09:31

    Coventry City have dismissed the prospect of an imminent move across the city to the Butts Park Arena, owned by Coventry Rugby Football Club.  

    Butts Park Arena is currently home to Coventry Rugby Football Club and the city's Rugby League side Coventry Bears, who play in Championship OneImage source, Coventry Bears

    City, tenants to Premiership rugby side Wasps at the Ricoh Arena, are keen to develop their own home in the area.

    But the club said: "Reports linking us to any long-term deal with the rugby club is only speculation."
