The television personality and conservationist, Bill Oddie, has agreed to become patron of the Grace's Rest Exotic Animal Sanctuary, external in New Arley.
Clare Barnard, from the sanctuary, says it came about by chance and that Bill said it would be an "honour" to become patron.
A Coventry man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of his 13-month-old son by careless driving after an accident on the M6.
Freddie Fox died in Birmingham Children's Hospital three days after the crash on 7 December 2014 when the car he was in left the northbound carriageway of the motorway between Rugby and Coventry.
At a hearing at Warwick Crown Court, Andrew Fox, 26, of MaGuire Crescent, Binley, was disqualified from driving for a year; given a 12-month community order and told to carry out 270 hours voluntary work.
He's also been ordered to pay costs.

Coventry City Council is being accused of sending out mixed messages over the future of a city centre coach park.
It was suggested in a council agenda last week that using the White Street coach park would off-set the loss of parking spaces when student accommodation is built on the car park at Cox Street.
The council has now said it has no intention of closing White Street or of taking any of its land for car parking at this stage.
But opposition councillor Roger Bailey, who's also a blue badge tourist guide, has questioned why the council made the suggestion in the first place.
The emergency services are at an accident on Harbury Lane in Leamington.

A Warwickshire mother has been talking about how "terrifying" it was for her dealing with her daughter's mental illness which led to her being admitted into a hospital more than a 100 miles from home.
The woman says her experience of finding treatment for her 16-year-old daughter shows mental health services are stretched to breaking point.
A report, external - by a taskforce set up by NHS England - said around three-quarters of people with mental health problems received no help at all.

A grandfather who lost both breasts to cancer has officially opened Cancer Research UK's new shop in Coventry.
Adrian Gardner, 54, from Nuneaton, was diagnosed with cancer in August 2006 after discovering a chestnut-sized lump in his breast.
Speaking about his diagnosis Adrian said: "I was shocked of course, but I think my overwhelming emotion was fear. You don't hear of it in men very much, so it was quite scary."
