    A film about Coventry City's 1987 FA cup victory , externalhas been released as part of a local health campaign.

    Many of those who watched the match will now be in their 40s, 50s and 60s and more at risk of things like heart disease and cancer. 

    Health bosses are urging people to take up free health checks so they can continue to enjoy the things they love.

  2. 'No major plan in place' after M6 chaos, says PCCpublished at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2016

    The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner says Highways England has some real questions to answer about how it handled the closure of the M6 near Castle Bromwich for almost 24 hours last month. 

    A debrief report obtained by the BBC lists failings including poor communication and a lack of coordinated response after a fatal accident.

    Highways England has apologised and says it takes safety extremely seriously and continues to investigate what happened.

    The chief Constable of West Mercia Police says he believes a merger with the Warwickshire force would benefit the service.

    David Shaw made the comments after announcing he is stepping down after five years.

    His departure paves the way for a possible merger but he says that's not his decision.

    A Rugby-based addiction charity is calling for a change in the law, to stop primary schools being allowed to serve alcohol, external to parents at school events.

    Research published by Swanswell found alcohol was served to adults at around one in four primary schools in the West Midlands in 2014. It says the practice risks pushing kids towards the bottle.

    The charity wants Temporary Event Notices, required by schools serving alcohol, to be rejected if children are going to be present. It also wants a ban on boozy raffle prizes.

    A spokesperson said: "By serving alcohol to adults at the school disco we’re giving children a mixed message about drinking in an environment which should be setting a better example. Isn’t this a bar too far?"

  8. M6 closure report: Findings from debrief revealedpublished at 11:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2016

    Road repair lorries stuck in traffic and poor decision-making by Highways England are some of the key findings in a report into the chaos that followed a major accident on the M6 in February. 

    The northbound carriageway was closed for almost 24 hours after a crash involving a lorry and a car at junctions five, Castle Bromwich, and six, Spaghetti Junction.

    A debrief report obtained by the BBC shows it could have opened earlier. 

    Highways England has apologised and says it learns from every incident.

    The IPCC is continuing to investigate a collision in which a woman was hit by a police car, leaving her with serious head injuries.

    They say investigators have been to the scene, in Dunchurch Road, Rugby.

    The victim - struck shortly after 12:15 on Monday - was taken to University Hospital in Coventry.

    A lack of stem cells in the womb lining causes thousands of women to suffer repeat miscarriages, according to researchers at the University of Warwick.

    Researchers believe the "major breakthrough" could help many women.

    Scientists say one in 100 women trying to conceive suffer recurrent miscarriages, defined as the loss of three or more consecutive pregnancies.
