  2. Lucky escape after microlight suffers heavy landingpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 23 May 2016

    Two men escaped serious injury after their microlight came down heavily as it landed at Long Marston yesterday.

    The ambulance service said it was called to the airfield and found one man had suffered a wrist injury and both had minor cuts and bruising.

  3. Warwickshire drivers failing drugs swab testpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 23 May 2016

    Of 43 people tested at road traffic collisions in Warwickshire since the start of March, 16 people tested positive for drugs.

    The county council is highlighting the numbers in a campaign aimed at 18-24 year-old male drivers.

    The figures show 12 people tested positive for cannabis, four for cocaine and two had both in their bloodstream.

    The family of Rachael Martin, killed when she was struck by a transporter in Stratford, is trying to "come to terms with their loss", police say.

    Her five-year-old daughter is in a stable condition after suffering serious pelvic injuries in the collision. Her seven year-old daughter was unhurt.

    Police are using gaming technology to simulate the hazards of driving while texting on a mobile phone. 

    Central Motorway Police Group in the West Midlands has fitted a car with the equipment and is inviting motorists to see for themselves how dangerous it can be.

    Police have released dashcam footage of the moment a lorry causes a six-vehicle crash in Stratford.

    Driver Martin Gibson, 54 of Bathurst Road, Gloucester pleaded guilty to five counts of dangerous driving at Warwick Crown Court on Friday 20 May and was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

    He was in an articulated lorry on the A46 northbound in May last year when it crashed into a car, causing a multiple-vehicle collision. Drivers of the cars were left with "serious injuries", police say.

  11. M6 coach fire: Passengers assessed at scenepublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 23 May 2016

    The fire service says all passengers were able to get off the double decker coach on the M6 before the fire took hold.

    They have two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and a senior paramedic officer at the scene.

    Rugby Borough Council says it's working with residents to try to identify the source of a mystery infestation of flies affecting a "very widespread" area.

    Sean Lawson, head of environmental health, says officers have visited a number of commercial business and agricultural premises, "none of which have provided any sources for this number of flies" he said.

    A teenage cyclist's being treated for head and shoulder injuries after crashing down an embankment near Nuneaton, external, says the ambulance service.

    It happened at Judkins Quarry at Tuttle Hill just before 18:00 yesterday. 

    A spokesperson said the 14-year-old fell, went into some rock and hit a tree.

  18. Woman killed in transporter crash namedpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 23 May 2016

    A woman who died in a collision with a car transporter in Stratford last week has been named by police as 29-year-old Rachael Martin, external from Elm Road in the town.

    A five-year-old girl, who suffered serious pelvic injuries in the incident in Western Road on Friday, remains in a stable condition in Birmingham Children's Hospital.

    A seven-year-old girl, who was walking with them both, was uninjured.

    Up to seven offers are expected to be made for the firm which employs just under 800 people here in the West Midlands.

    It's losing an average of £1m a day because of collapsing steel prices. The timetable for the sale is unclear.
