  3. Police name man killed in crashed vintage carpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    A man who died when the vintage car in which he was travelling collided with a parked vehicle has been named as Philip Chadwick.

    The 63-year-old was a passenger in a 1967 MG Midget that hit a parked Ford Fiesta in Browns Lane on Saturday 4 June, near the junction with Washbrook Lane.

    He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but, police say, died three days later.

    The 58-year-old driver remains in hospital.

  5. Mission accomplished as service celebrates 25,000th call-outpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, based at Coventry airport, has completed its 25,000th mission.

    The Critical Care Team was called out last night to an incident in Burton Latimer and carried out the mission in the service's new night car.

  6. Rain warning issued for Coventry and Warwickshirepublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    A yellow warning for rain, external has been issued by the Met Office for Coventry and Warwickshire this afternoon.

    It's warning that slow-moving, heavy showers are becoming more widespread and will bring the possibility of localised flooding.

  7. Morgan Hehir fatal stabbing: Three men admit 'tragic and unprovoked' attackpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Police describe the attack on Morgan Hehir last year as "tragic, vicious and unprovoked".

    Three men have admitted killing him and will be sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Monday.

    Det Chief Insps Jason Downes who led the investigation said "it shocked the Nuneaton community and had a devastating impact on Morgan's family and friends".

    Three men have admitted killing 20-year-old Morgan Hehir, police say, external.

    Declan Gray, 21 of Waverly Square, Nuneaton, pleaded guilty to murder at Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday.

    His brother Karlton Gray, 19, of the same address, and 40-year-old Simon Rowbotham, of Meadow Street, Nuneaton, today both pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

    Sentencing is due to take place on Monday.

    Mr Hehir, from Nuneaton, was fatally stabbed on Halloween 2015 following what police described as a street altercation.

  9. EU referendum: Apology to ineligible voters issued with polling cardspublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Coventry City Council says it's written to the people affected by an error that meant polling cards were sent to "non eligible" voters.

    Councils across Coventry and Warwickshire issued 49 polling cards incorrectly, according to figures from the Electoral Commission.

    A council statement says: "Our staff are well trained at making sure they only issue ballot papers to eligible voters.”

    A total of 3,502 people across England and Wales have been affected. Here's the local breakdown of figures by council:

  10. Three arrested over Coventry shootingpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Three men have been arrested , externalin connection with a shooting in which, police say, a parked car was blasted with a sawn-off shotgun.

    The trio were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life at an address in Towpath Close, Exhall, just after 04:00.

    It’s suspected the men, aged 19, 20 and 25, were involved in a shooting in Lauderdale Avenue, Holbrooks, in the early hours of Wednesday when an unattended Suzuki Swift car was damaged.

    A woman living near to the scene of a fatal stabbing in Coventry last night said she feels "shocked and scared" in the aftermath of the event.

    Marie Hipperson, who has lived on Holyhead road for four years, said there had never been any trouble in the area in that time.

    Her 20-year-old son, Connor Hipperson, said he was watching television about 20 minutes before police first arrived and heard shouting.

     "I heard raised voices, blokes' voices, but nothing out of the ordinary," he said. "I didn't think anything of it initially, but then later I came out and it was just carnage."

  15. EU referendum: Councils send polling cards to ineligible voterspublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Polling cards were wrongly sent to nearly 50 EU citizens across Coventry and Warwickshire who are not allowed to vote in the EU referendum.

    The Electoral Commission has announced a software "issue" meant polling cards and some postal votes were sent out to some "non eligible" voters.
