A judge may provide more clarity today about how a 13-month-old girl died in Barrow in December 2012.
So far the cause of Poppi Worthington's death is "unascertained", but in November a court heard pathologists differed on whether sexual abuse could have played a part.
Both Cumbria Police and the county council have faced serious criticism from the judge for the way they handled the case.
Police were condemned for conducting "no real investigation" into Poppi's death for nine months, while the county council was criticised for failing to act quickly enough to protect her siblings.
Today, Mr Justice Peter Jackson is expected to have his final say on what could have led to the death of the young and previously healthy girl.
