    • Temperatures at 3,000ft: About 2C.
    • Winds: Moderate south or southeasterly, but nearer strong breeze at first on the highest summits. 
    • Cloud: None expected during daylight hours, some patches down to 500m may develop across the southwestern fells in the evening. 
    • Visibility: Excellent with clear views of distant hills. 
    • Freezing level: 400m rising above summit level through the day. Temporarily dipping to 300 metres for a time in the early evening.

    A year ago, flooding devastated thouands of homes across Cumbria and more than 700 households have still to return home.

    For many people who have spent months in temporary accommodation, it wasn't the first time they'd been flooded out.

    In Patterdale, which with nearby Glenridding saw repeated flooding, children have been sharing their memories of the floods in an Eden Arts project to address the emotional impact.

    Barrow are waiting to find out who their opponents are in the next round of the FA Cup after beating Bristol Rovers, a team that play two divisions above them.

    Byron Harrison scored both Bluebird goals to give Barrow a first away win in the FA Cup at a Football League side since 1966.

    United Utilities says many people in and around Brampton may be without water this morning because of a leak. 

    The company says a team of engineers should be on site as as soon as possible, and it apologises for the trouble.

    The raging waters that surged through Cumbrian towns a year ago will live long in people's memories.

    Thousands of homes and businesses were flooded when record rainfall struck, causing landslides, river bank erosion and sheep deaths.   

    More than 700 families have yet to return home one year after Storm Desmond hit parts of Cumbria. 

    Cumbria County Council said the recovery has cost approximately £500m.

  9. Travel: Crashes slow traffic near Sedbergh, at Distington and Troutbeckpublished at 09:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2016

    Accidents are causing problems on the A595 at the B5306 junction in Distington, on the A683 near Brigflatts Lane just outside Sedbergh, and on the A592 at Troutbeck, near Windermere, where road conditions are said to be hazardous.

    The A66 eastbound is partially blocked at North Stainmore by a broken-down vehicle.

    A new report published one year after Storm Desmond confirms it was the most extreme storm in British records - on one measure "by a substantial margin".

    Scientists from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology brought together a string of statistics, external which showed the wettest three months on record, new 24-hour and 48 hour rainfall records, and enough water flowing down each of the Rivers Eden, Tyne and Lune to fill the Albert Hall in one minute.

    More than 5,000 homes were flooded in towns across the county; According to Cumbria County Council, 775 homes are still so far from repaired that people are unable to return.

    Good morning, it is one year on from the catastrophic flooding of Storm Desmond, to be followed by Eva and Frank.

    We'll be looking at how the county's still recovering from rainfall that swamped previous records and did damage estimated at costing, nationally, more than £1bn to repair.
