    Here's the fells forecast for daylight hours today:

    • Temperatures at 3,000ft: 7C dropping to 3C later. 
    • Winds: Gale force south to southeasterly, gusting 60mph, decreasing strong southwesterly, gusting 45mph. 
    • Cloud: Extensive cloud 2,100ft (650m), patches down to 1,300ft (400m) at first, becoming more broken around the summits later. 
    • Visibility: Poor at first, improving good later. 
    • Freezing level: Above the tops.

  5. First full journeys along reopened Settle-Carlisle line complete published at 8:55

    The first two trains to travel the length of the Settle-Carlisle railway line have completed their first journeys. 

    The 05:29 from Leeds arrived into Carlisle at 08:17.

    The 05:50 from Carlisle arrived into Leeds at 08:37.

  8. Trains running again on Settle-Carlisle railway linepublished at 08:14 British Summer Time 31 March 2017

    Trains are once again running on a Cumbrian railway line more than a year after a major landslip damaged a section of track. 

    Network Rail has described the repairs to the Settle-Carlisle line at Eden Brows near Armathwaite as the , external " most challenging railway repair ever, external ".

    The first train to use the repaired section of line between Armathwaite and Appleby departed from Carlisle railway station at 05:50.

    Engineers designed a reinforced concrete platform supported by steel and concrete tubes driven into the ground for the section of track to sit on.
