  1. Seven flood warnings and eighteen flood alerts for Cumbriapublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 11 October 2017

    The Environment Agency says there are now 18 flood alerts in the county and seven flood warnings for Cumbria.

    The flood warnings are for:

    • Dragley Beck at Ulverston from Dragley Beck Bridge on Well Lane downstream to South Ulverston
    • Keswick Campsite
    • River Ehen at Egremont, Bleach Green, Ennerdale Mill, Springfield Rd, Vale View, Wood Bank
    • Skirting Beck at Egremont, Church View and Beck Side
    • Skirting Beck at Egremont, Milton Road to Beck Side
    • Town Beck at Ulverston from The Gill downstream to The Ellers area
    • Whangs Beck at Egremont, Southey Avenue to Beck Side

  2. Travel: Trains between Carlisle and Marport cancelledpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 11 October 2017

    Northern Rail have cancelled trains between Carlisle and Maryport because of flooding. Buses will be in operation instead.

    They say disruption is expected until 16:15.

  3. Yellow weather warning in place until mid-afternoonpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 11 October 2017

    There are 18 flood alerts in place across the county. In Allerdale, the A595 at Bothel is closed due to flooding. In Borrowdale, one hotel owner says deliveries have had to be cancelled and guests are unable to get into Keswick because local roads are impassable.

    Last night, the Met Office issued with a yellow weather warning for the county until 15:00. Between 80-100 mm of rain is expected on the Cumbran Fells.

    People living in Borrowdale say the worst rainfall has occured over the past two hours and the River Derwent is rising.

    The Environment Agency says it believes river levels will rise until lunchtime and peak around mid-afternoon.

    It doesn't believe it will get so serious that the more serious flood warnings would be issued.

    The Environment Agency in Cumbria says there are now 18 flood alerts in the county and one flood warning.

    The flood warnings are for:

    • River Ehen at Egremont, Bleach Green, Ennerdale Mill, Springfield Rd, Vale View, Wood Bank

    Northern Rail says lines are blocked because of flooding between Carlisle and Maryport.

    Seven schools have now closed because of flooding on the county's roads:

    • Blennerhasset
    • Borrowdale school near Keswick
    • Bridekirk Dovenby near Cockermouth
    • Ireby
    • Oughterside, near Aspatria
    • St Michael's in Bothel
    • Richmond Hill School in Aspatria

    Queueing traffic and the road is closed due to flooding on the A595 both ways between the A591 Bothel and B5299 Mealsgate.

    Six schools have been closed because of flooding on the county's roads. They are:

    The heavy rain in Cumbria has been causing problems this morning.

    Gary Macrae is from the Hazel Bank Country House Hotel in Borrowdale and says it is affecting their guests.

    We have a house full of guests who can't move backwards or forwards - they can't get into Keswick via Honister or via the main Borrowdale Road into Keswick, which is a bit of a nuisance. Plus our deliveries aren’t going to be getting to us today either.

    We've had reports on flooding on:

    • Castle Green Road in Kendal
    • Parts of the A591 around Windermere and Troutbeck Bridge
    • The A684 at New Hutton
    • The A595 at Bothel where the road has been described as "running like a river"
    • A594 between Papcastle and Dovenby
