  1. Weather: Today's fells forecast

    If you're thinking of heading out on to the fells today, here's the forecast:

    • Temperatures at 3,000 feet: 1C (34F) falling to -3C (27F) this afternoon
    • Winds: Strong to gale force westerly gusting 45-50mph
    • Cloud: Broken above 600m (2,000ft), down to 450m (1500ft) on western fells
    • Visibility: Good, falling moderate or poor in rain, hill snow & hill fog
    • Freezing level: 900m (3,000ft) at first falling to 400m, (1,300ft) this afternoon

  2. 'No discussions have ever been held' for Edinburgh Woollen Mill take over Carlisle

    Carlisle United's chief executive Nigel Clibbens has revealed no discussions haven taken place - or are planned - with Edinburgh Woollen Mill to take over at Brunton Park.

    Speculation has continued over the company's level of involvement in the club after it was revealed they had entered into a "commercial funding facility" with United earlier this year.

    In an interview with the club's website, Mr Clibbens also revealed that stadium progress remains a top priority for the club, but admitted maintaining Brunton Park was becoming "more challenging by the week" due to its age and costs.

  3. Weather: Windy with heavy, blustery showers, these wintry over the hills

    These will initially fall as rain before increasingly turning to snow through the afternoon, especially over hills.

  4. Travel: A66 closed in both directions

    The A66 is closed in both directions between the B5289 and A591/ A5271 Crosthwaite Road (Crossthwaite Roundabout) because of an accident.

  5. Travel: Earlier problems on trains between Carlisle and Glasgow now cleared

    Earlier signalling problems at Lockerbie have now been sorted so trains are now running between Carlisle and Glasgow - although some may still be affected by delays.

  6. Poppi Worthington inquest resumes today

    The Poppi Worthington inquest resumes today - after a break for the fifth anniversary of the Barrow toddler's death yesterday.

    Another two doctors will present their views about the cause of the injuries - and death - today.

    There's been debate between medics about whether the 13-month-old had been sexually assaulted and whether she showed signs consistent with being smothered.

    Her father Paul Worthington denies sexually abusing his daughter and has never been charged.

  7. Travel: Roads still closed because of ice
