    • Cloud: Bases around 2,600ft (800m) falling to 1,600ft (500m) in the showers
    • Visibility: Good below the cloud, poor in showers

    A judge is preparing to oversee a High Court battle featuring bosses at a multimillion-pound infrastructure business which started up in an isolated Lake District village half a century ago.

    Directors at the Stobart Group, which began life when founder Eddie Stobart went into business as an agricultural contractor in Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria, in the 1960s, have sued former chief executive Andrew Tinkler, saying he conspired with other businessmen to harm the company's interests.

    The company's management has also made claims about money spent on air travel and want a judge to rule that he was lawfully dismissed.

    Mr Tinkler, who was chief executive of the business between 2007 and 2017, denies wrongdoing, saying he was removed for no good reason, and has counter-claimed.

  4. Travel: A roads remain closed for long-term workpublished at 08:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2018

    Two main roads in the county remain closed during major repairs.

    • The A684 is closed on the edge of Kendal between Parkside Road and Hayclose Lane, for culvert repairs
    • The A5086 in closed in Cockermouth from Brigham Road to Fitz Road, and the closure there has been extended until the end of this week, because the work took longer than expected

    The Whinlatter Pass is also closed from the Coledale turnoff to the car park for bridge maintenance work.
