    Yesterday I talked about attempts by Derby City Council to develop business, cultural and tourism links with China.

    Council leader Ranjit Banwait recently returned from Shanghai and was given a banner with some Chinese writing on it.

    Plenty of reaction coming in on our Facebook page, external to the decision to switch off water features in Derby city centre to save the council money.

    Louise Greenhoff said: "If the council didn't pay out so much money on consultancy fees as in the assembly rooms fiasco then we would have money to improve the city. This council is a shambles."

    Sarah Bloor posted: "Derby City Council yet again contributing to the lack of anything vaguely interesting in Derby. It's fast becoming a dead end midlands city full of square grey buildings and no culture or creativity."

    I brought you the delights of the Derbyshire Pie yesterday and although it's still relatively early in the day there's another culinary treat today.

    It's an award-winning kebab from the Food Stop takeaway in Swadlincote - which BBC Radio Derby's breakfast presenter Ian Skye didn't need much persuading to sample.

    The firm won the prize for the best takeaway outside London at a recent kebab industry awards ceremony.

    Plenty of reaction on our Facebook page about George Coppen who had a decision to cut his disability benefits overturned, external at a tribunal this week.

    Belinda Clarke said: "Well done, George. Like you I had my disability allowance cut and lost my adapted car. I had to fight right to the end, going to court and spending hundreds of pounds and thankfully in the end won my case."

    And Roger Swaine posted: "The cost of these tribunals costs way more than just paying these benefits in the first place and avoids all the stress on the deserving claimants. Common sense (and basic financial responsibility) seems to have disappeared from this land."

    The sculpture is one of several water features being turned off by the city council to cut costs.

    As concern grew for a missing Derbyshire man extra resources were deployed yesterday, with mountain rescuers and a HM Coastguard helicopter joining the search.  

    Police have said today they believe a body recovered from a river near Youlgreave last night is that of 83-year-old Michael Gibbs, external.

    The Edale Mountain Rescue Team says it was called to help colleagues from Derby and Buxton before the search was scaled down early yesterday evening.

    Elsewhere today Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire's local enterprise partnership says leaving the EU would cause "significant disruption" to some firms in the area.

    It says companies such as Nestle and Thorntons could face higher costs for their products, while those like Bombardier might have to pay to export their products to the EU.

    However, the report also says companies that don't export to the European Union might benefit from not having to adhere to the EU's rules.

    Moorways Swimming Pool will close to the public from today as part of city council budget cuts.

    Several of Derby's water features are also being switched off, including the waterfall in the Market Place along with a number of public toilets.

    Police say a formal identification is yet to take place, but they believe a body found in a river in Derbyshire  is that of missing man Michael Gibbs, external.

    The 83-year-old had been reported missing from his home in Youlgreave on Tuesday morning.  

    A body was recovered from the river in nearby Bradford Dale last night, after being spotted by a walker.

    So the City of Derby swimming star Adam Peaty has been speaking to the BBC ahead of this summer's Olympic Games in Rio, and he's called for a life ban from the sport for anyone found to have taken banned drugs.

    Currently swimmers only face permanent bans if they fail a second test, after serving a suspension for an earlier separate offence, but Peaty thinks this isn't enough.

    He said: "People who cheat should be given a life ban because it's a message to those people out there that it shouldn't happen at all.

    "It's bad for the young ones who really look up to the sport and it's also bad for the people believing in the sport."
