    The boss of Sports Direct has agreed to be questioned by MPs over his working practices, but only if they visit his Derbyshire headquarters first.

    Mike Ashley was ordered to explain his treatment of workers at the company's Shirebrook warehouse by the Business Select Committee in March.

    Many are on "zero hours contracts" with claims that some effectively get less than the minimum wage.

    I'm not sure that we've moved any further forward than a year ago when we reported that the cattle and wholesale markets in Derby were to be demolished.

    But as I'm no expert on local authority procedures here's the city council's deputy leader Martin Rawson to explain what will happen next.

    He said: "If people want to continue to provide a cattle market as a private enterprise there will be every opportunity for them to bid into the next stage of the process and to purchase the site."

    He seems to be unstoppable ... Adam Peaty has another title in his sights on the road to Rio.

    After qualifying fastest for the men's 100m breaststroke title at the European Championships, the City of Derby swimmer said: "It's always about the race. I'm going to be focusing on my own race and hopefully get into a time that I'm happy with.

    City of Derby swimmer Adam Peaty goes for gold tonight at the European Swimming Championships in London.

    Peaty, from Uttoxeter, was the fastest qualifier in the men's 100m breaststroke in a time of 58.74 seconds.

    It looks likely Derby's cattle market will be demolished and the cleared site put up for sale.

    A city council cabinet meeting last night rejected offers to lease the cattle market and councillors asked for more information about a bid to buy the wholesale market.

    A cabinet meeting last night rejected offers to lease the cattle market, with the council expected to demolish the buildings and put the cleared site up for sale.
