    Bill McWilliam also told reporters he was "pretty satisfied this poor individual" was not murdered in the lay-by.

    He added: "We are working with other forces to ascertain whether our victim may have been reported missing in a neighbouring county but we recognise he might not have been reported missing at all."

    Assistant Chief Constable Bill McWilliam, of Derbyshire Police, has been speaking to the media about the Tintwistle murder. 

    He said: "I recognise that this must be a very shocking incident for either people who live in the area or frequent the area for recreation. 

    "I want to reassure members of the public that a full investigation team is looking into the inquiry and we have additional police resources in the area at this time to provide that reassurance."

  12. Fresh witness appeal over burned body murderpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 13 October 2016

    Police believe the suitcase containing the burned body was left in the lay-by at some point on Sunday evening.

    Officers have asked anyone who spotted any suspicious behaviour in that area around that time to get in touch, external.

    A man found dead in Tintwistle on Monday was discovered inside a suitcase with missing limbs and no head, police have said, external.

    Detectives obtained DNA from the body, which was found in a lay-by next to the A628, but there is no match on the national database.

    Former Derby County captain Roy McFarland (pictured left) gave one of the readings at Gordon Guthrie's (pictured right) funeral earlier this morning.

    "The word that is being brought out, which you don't normally associate with that sort of person is legend," McFarland told BBC Radio Derby. 

    "It is usually someone who has performed on the football field, they've had success, won championships and served the club. But this is a guy who served the club behind the scenes."

    Cabinet agreed the proposal to close Ada Belfield Home for Older People in Belper at its meeting last Tuesday.
