The former MP for Derby North, Amanda Solloway, has claimed that Theresa May's manifesto damaged her chances of retaining her seat at this month's general election.

Ms Solloway had been defending a majority of just 41 from 2015, making it England's most marginal seat, but she lost out to Labour's Chris Williamson by more than 2,000 votes.

"At the beginning of the campaign there was a definite level of optimism," Ms Solloway told BBC Radio Derby.

"For me, I think it was when the manifesto came out that people started to think 'oh my goodness, this isn't possibly going to go the way we thought it was'."

Ms Solloway has also added that she believes the Green Party not standing in the constituency and a strong student vote also helped boost the Labour vote.

A review has shown some buildings in Byron House have similar cladding to the London tower block, where at least 79 people died.

The university and a firm called UPP, which owns and manages Byron House, have said they're working with the fire service as a priority.

The university has not said how many students have been affected.

Foxes full-back Ben Chilwell scored his penalty in the shootout after the game finished 2-2 following extra time.

Not for the first time, an England team is left to reflect on what might have been after losing against Germany on penalties.

Death, taxes and losing to the Germans on penalties - just some of life's many certainties...
