    Leicester City's Harry Maguire says it's been a "remarkable" two years going from watching England play in Euro 2016 to being part of the World Cup 2018 squad.

    The 25-year-old made his England debut last October and posted a photo on Instagram with his friends watching England draw 0-0 against Slovakia two years ago.

    He wrote: "Two years ago watching England in France with my mates. Now on the plane to Russia. How times have changed".

    The appointment of former England international Frank Lampard as manager of Derby County appears to be continuing to move closer, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

    Jody Morris, who's currently in charge of the U18s at Lampard's former club Chelsea, is thought to be being lined up as assistant manager.

    One of India's biggest Bollywood dance academies is celebrating five years of being in Leicester.

    Shiamak Midlands was set up as part of Indian choreographer Shiamak Davar's worldwide dance schools and has helped aspiring dancers from the city perform with some of the movie industry's biggest stars.

    The academy is celebrating its anniversary with a massive show called Spirit of India at The Curve this weekend.

  5. Friends of 100-year-old woman 'shocked' by attackpublished at 08:53 British Summer Time 30 May 2018

    Friends of a 100-year-old woman who had her neck broken when she was attacked over the weekend say they're "shocked and scared".

    Her friends Monika Zareba and Maria Wojtczak said: "You didn't think something like this could happen to old people. It shouldn't happen."

    The woman had been on her way to a Polish church on Gordon Road in Normanton, Derby at about 08.30 on Monday when she was attacked from behind and pushed to the floor.

    She is still recovering in hospital and police say they're keen to find the person responsible.

    Det Insp Chris Whiteley said: "It really is a despicable crime.

    "We have an elderly, vulnerable victim, who's been attacked from behind and she's sustained quite significant and nasty injuries as part of this."

    A man in his 70s involved in a two-car crash in Leicestershire last month has died in hospital.

    He was one of four people injured on Melton Road, in Thurmaston, on the evening of 28 April.

    The collision involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a black Audi A3.

    Det Con Alison Briance said the crash happened near to the entrance of Sainsbury’s supermarket.

    “We are keen to trace the occupants of any vehicles that were at the junction at the time of the collision but may have continued their journey prior to the emergency services attending the scene," she said.

    The former Market Harborough District Hospital has been sold for more than £1.3m.

    It was declared surplus to requirements by the NHS after clinical services moved out of the building in March last year.

    The property on Coventry Road has been bought by Sterling Rose Care, which plans to turn the site into a care home with proceeds from the sale being re-invested back into the NHS.

    It's the first signing of the summer for Mansfield Town and the first signing for manager David Flitcroft.

    Defender Matt Preston has joined the Stags from Swindon Town and was described by Flitcroft as a "strong, central defender" and "hungry to develop".

    Police are "concerned for her safety".
