    A police car has gone into the River Maun in Mansfield this morning following a crash.

    The vehicle collided with another car at the junction with Weighbridge Road at around 10:25 this morning and then went through a wall into the river.

    A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said the police officer had not been responding to a call and was taken to King's Mill Hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

    The person in the other car wasn't injured.

    East Midlands Trains says there are still some delays on its trains connecting the region with London following a fault with the signalling system in Luton this morning.

    The problems have angered a lot of commuters today including many at St Albans City station, in Hertfordshire, who kicked down gates and climbed over barriers to get to the platform during rush hour.

    Police have named a woman who died after being hit by a bus on London Road in Newark on Monday.

    Angela Jane Dowd, 60, was a pedestrian and died at the scene near the junction with Bowbridge Road at about 09:40.

    A woman has tracked down a Derbyshire nurse who did "silly things" to make her cancer treatment as a teenager "less painful", after an appeal on social media.

    Liz Brown spent four months in Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, in 1989 with a spinal tumour where her nurse Debbie gave her "silly jobs" which helped her cope.

    Ms Brown, 43, took to Twitter on Tuesday asking for people to help her find Debbie as she wanted to thank her.

    On Wednesday night Debbie got in touch and the pair, who were "both in tears", plan to meet up soon.

    "She didn't think I'd made it through my cancer," said Ms Brown, recounting their brief conversation on Facebook on Wednesday evening.

    The Civil Aviation Authority has given Leicestershire Police permission to use drones during operations.

    The drones will be able to send live footage to officers and can be fitted with thermal imaging cameras at night.

    The force says the devices will be used to help find missing people and tackle anti-social behaviour.

    Last year Devon and Cornwall Police became the first force to launch a dedicated drone unit to help gather evidence, track suspects and for counter-terrorism operations.

    If you're planning to get out the picnic basket for the weekend but don't know where to go, it might help to know the Green's Windmill in Nottingham has been named one of the best locations in Britain for a picnic.

    The Sneinton windmill, which overlooks the city, has made it into a top 10 list put together by the i newspaper.

    Others on the list included Rhossili Bay in Gower, Wales, Catbells in the Lake District and Sweetheart Abbey in Scotland.

    Jamie Duff, heritage officer at Green's Windmill, said: "It's great to be seen at the same level as those kind of attractions.

    "I think we're well-known locally as a good picnic area and hopefully the word has spread and that's why we find ourselves in these ratings."

    Eleven men and one woman have been charged, and another man arrested, over the production and supply of Mamba in Derby.

    The suspects, from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, and Normanton, in Derby, take the total number of people charged in the operation to 22, with a further five arrested.

    Police have increased attempts to curb nuisance and dangerous parking on the roadside outside Elvaston Castle, in Derbyshire.

    Visitors to the popular tourist attraction often leave their vehicles on the B5010 to avoid paying to park.

    Police said they have been stepping up parking warnings to try to tackle the issue but residents claim the problem is just being moved on to other roads.

    At the recent South Derbyshire District Council Area Forum meeting Conservative county councillor Neil Atkin said: "I have had numerous residents get in touch about concerns with parking at Elvaston, both large numbers of people parking on the verges and in the village itself instead of paying the parking fees."

    Prince William and Theresa May are visiting a new £300m centre for injured military personnel today.

    The Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall, near East Leake, has taken two years to build.

    Medics are relocating to the site from the armed forces' current rehabilitation centre at Headley Court, in Surrey.

    They are due to start treating hundreds of seriously wounded soldiers at Stanford Hall by the end of this year. There are also plans for a separate complex for injured civilians.

    The leader of Nottinghamshire County Council has said she is eager to get on with plans to abolish district and borough councils.

    Councillor Kay Cutts said councils' funding situation was now so serious they had to cut services, raise council tax or pool resources.

    The Conservative councillor, who represents the Radcliffe on Trent ward, said: "This council needs to save £54m out of our revenue, and if we're going to do that, we have to close down services and for me that's not acceptable.

    "In Nottinghamshire, we're going to pool our resources. In my view that's the most sensible thing to do. We will probably double the number of councillors so everyone can have their say."

    Unless you've been living under a rock you'll realise the World Cup's on and, as a result, St George's crosses have been appearing everywhere.

    In Wirksworth, Derbyshire, this one has been painted on a mini roundabout.

    The man who claims to be behind it is Ben Crowder, from Wirksworth, who has told the BBC he was once affiliated with the English Defence League but now wants to put that behind him.

    He said he was given a two-year custodial sentence for throwing an object at police.

    However, he said he had painted the roundabout purely to support the England team.

    Derbyshire County Council said it has no plans to cover up the flag on Derby Road "just yet".

    A spokesperson said the council "doesn't usually condone this kind of thing but it looks like people are really getting into the spirit of the World Cup".

    A 41-year-old man has been charged after a woman was knocked to the ground and had her handbag stolen.

    The attacked happened at about 19:45 on Tuesday, near Worksop Railway Station.

    Trevor Lowe, of John Street, Worksop, has been charged with robbery and assault. He has also further been charged with two counts of burglary, which he allegedly committed earlier the same day.

    He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court this morning.
