    East Midlands Airport is warning drivers to leave "plenty of time" for journeys because of emergency pothole repairs taking place on the M1 near junction 23A.

    Two lanes are still closed and the southbound carriageway is queuing back to J25.

    The former Debenhams store in Derby could be sold this month.

    The city council currently owns the site but is getting ready to hand it over to a regeneration company that has been working on a masterplan for the Becketwell area.

    The plans would see the former Debenhams and Silly Sids store on Victoria Street demolished and the site redeveloped with homes, offices, bars and restaurants.

    A primary school teacher from Ambergate is hoping to set a new world record for cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats on a penny farthing.

    Richard Thoday is currently riding 200 miles every weekend in preparation for the challenge in July.

    He's hoping to beat a record that's stood since 1886.

    He said: "I'm going to have to ride something like 20 hours a day for potentially five days so lack of sleep and my brain telling me to stop are going to be the big challenges."

    Police are investigating a burglary in Rothley where two Omega watches were stolen.

    It happened some time between 20:00 and midnight on Saturday 2 March when someone broke into the house on Town Green Street through a back window.

    Leicestershire Police have released these images of the stolen watches as part of an appeal.

    Officers believe there were people in the area at the time who may have seen a vehicle or someone acting suspiciously.

    Former coal miners from the East Midlands are to deliver a petition to Downing Street - signed by more than 100,000 people.

    For years they've campaigned over the billions of pounds taken from their pension fund by successive governments.

    It was part of a deal which saw the state act as guarantor in case the pension scheme ran into trouble.

    Figures show 17.5% of care homes in the East Midlands are ranked as "inadequate" or "requiring improvement".

    The charity Independent Age is calling on the government , externalto take urgent action to help improve care standards.

    In Nottingham, the number of care homes rated as poor has gone up by 8% in the past year.

    A man has been arrested in Leicester in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl in east London.

    Jodie Chesney was playing music in a park with friends on Friday when she was stabbed in the back.

    A Met Police spokesman said the man had been arrested in Leicester and remains in custody.
