    Sean McCallum, Labour mayoral candidate for Mansfield, has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of anti-Semitism.

    Mr McCallum, a former soldier and current firefighter, was only confirmed as the party's candidate on Wednesday.

    The BBC understands that the investigation relates to historical social media posts.

    A Labour spokeswoman said: "The Labour Party takes all complaints of anti-Semitism extremely seriously and we are committed to challenging and campaigning against it in all its forms.

    "All complaints about anti-Semitism are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures and any appropriate disciplinary action is taken."

    A man has been arrested following a suspected knife attack in Nottingham city centre this afternoon.

    Police were called to an assault in Burton Street at 16:00 today, where they found a man who suffered injuries believed to be caused by a knife.

    A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "At this stage we do believe the suspect and victim are likely to be known to each other and this was a targeted attack."

    The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

    A 44-year-old man was arrested by armed police on suspicion of affray and drug offences.

    A man has been charged with two handbag robberies from elderly women.

    The first charge relates to a 72-year-old woman being robbed in Orchard Street in Hucknall on Saturday, and her bank card being used in a cash machine.

    In the second robbery, a woman, aged 73, had her purse taken from her handbag in Brook Street in the town on Tuesday.

    A man, 39, has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of fraud by false representation.

    He has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

    Diversions have been put in place around the A46 in Newark following a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon.

    Highways England have advised people to leave the road at the Cattle Market onto the A616 northbound towards the A1 then travel southbound on the A1 to rejoin the A46.

    Traffic information website Inrix is reporting that delays are stretching back to the Farndon roundabout and North Gate through the middle of the town is also congested.

    Newark Police have released this picture, external of the crash on the A46 in Newark.

    They said those involved in the crash have not sustained any serious injuries, but the bridge on the road between Cattle Market and Brownhills has been damaged.

    The road remains closed in both directions and will reopen "when it is safe to do so", they added.

    The curried sweet potato and butternut squash pie was picked as Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards, held in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

    It was considered the best of 886 entries from pie makers, bakers and butchers from across the country.

    It featured in the brand new vegan category along with 67 other entries.

    The pie is made by Jon Thorner’s Ltd in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

    The competition's head judge said the pastry had "exceptional crispness" that complimented the filling.

    Two people have been injured in a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A46 in Newark, police have said.

    Police and the ambulance service are at the scene of the crash which occurred at about 13:30.

    The stainless steel bust of Florence Paton has been unveiled in the Garden for the Blind as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

    Mrs Paton represented the Rushcliffe constituency from 1945 to 1950, which at the time included Gedling, Colwick and Carlton within its boundaries.

    She campaigned for better working conditions in mines as well as improved health services for women and children.

    The funeral of a girl who was killed after being hit by a bus in Coalville has been held today.
