    Today is expected to be cold. Lingering snow is possible in the morning, clearing to the south to leave mostly cloudy skies. The cloud may break up to bring some late brightness towards the evening.

    Tonight it is expected to be very cold with clear skies and a chilly northerly wind developing. It will be an icy night.

    Derbyshire County Council has said gritters have been out since 04:00 GMT, salting the primary snow routes across the county.

    Meanwhile, farmers have been ploughing "secondary snow routes" from 07:00 this morning.

    Roads that are closed include:

    • B6014 at Ogsten, Tansley to Stretton
    • Church Lane at Quarndon
    • A57 Snake Pass
    • Winnats Pass
    • Rushup Edge from Chapel to Castleton
    • Mam Nick

    The A5004 Long Hill, Buxton to Whaley Bridge was shut overnight but has reopened.

    The council warned a number of trees have fallen due to the weight of the snow, mainly in and around the Matlock area.

    People have been asked to take extra care if out and about, and allow additional time for your journey.
