    Tom Daley successfully retained his individual 10m platform crown with an impressive display at the National Diving Cup in Southend.

    The Olympic bronze medallist won synchronised 10m gold alongside new partner Dan Goodfellow on Saturday.

    Daley scored 545.80, with Matty Lee (pictured left) second and Goodfellow (right) third. The Plymouth-born diver (centre) revealed that he had been unable to train for 10 days ahead of the competition due to a stomach bug and struggled with his opening routine.

  2. Forty alleged crimes recorded at homeless shelterpublished at 11:25

    Forty alleged crimes have been recorded as happening at a homeless shelter in Exeter, the BBC has learned.

    Since 2013, there have been more than 350 reports of antisocial behaviour and public safety incidents in and around Gabriel House. Of the 40 alleged offences recorded, 13 have resulted in charges. It is not known how many, if any, resulted in convictions.

    Exeter City Council and Devon County Council fund the service, provided by Bournemouth Churches Housing Association, external. They said the charity took every possible action to address any behaviour of residents.

  4. Universal Credit rolled out in Devonpublished at 11:00

    The government's new Universal Credit scheme is being rolled out in Jobcentres in Devonport, Plymouth, Brixham and Torquay from Monday.

    It's the new scheme that replaces a number of previous welfare payments such as Tax Credits and Income Support. 

    Unions said hundreds of people in the South West who claimed benefits would be in debt and struggle to feed their children under the new system. The government said Universal Credit was simplifying the benefit system.

    Paint on playground equipment has been found to contain high amounts of the toxin lead - up to 40 times recommended levels, new research suggests.

    Scientists from Plymouth University tested the content of paints on play equipment at 50 parks across Cornwall, Devon, Hampshire and Somerset.

    The study - published in the journal Science of the Total Environment - said the levels may pose a significant risk to young children and were "completely avoidable".

    Normal service was due to resume at 13:15, they added.

  8. Nearly 30 unclaimed dead bodies in Devon and Cornwallpublished at 10:02

    Devon and Cornwall have 28 unclaimed dead bodies in cases that have not yet been solved, figures from the National Crime Agency (NCA) reveal.

    It is the fifth highest total among police forces in England. They are among about 150 unidentified body cases around which are reported each year. Roughly one in 10 of those was thought to be crime-related, the NCA said.  

    Most are found by dog walkers, joggers or mushroom foragers, and usually in autumn or late winter, when the foliage has died back.

  9. Pacific Ocean rowers: Coxless Crew reach Australiapublished at 09:49

    A team of female rowers, including a woman from Cornwall, have arrived in Australia nine months after setting off from San Francisco to cross the Pacific Ocean.

    The Coxless Crew, external rowed out under the Golden Gate Bridge in April last year. After 257 days at sea, with supply stops in Hawaii and Samoa, their 29ft boat, Doris, crossed the finish line at Cairns just before 01:00 GMT.

    The crew - including 32-year-old team leader Laura Penhaul, originally from Redruth - have claimed two records.

    People who live in Cornwall are being given the chance to help shape the future of the county's health and social care services. 

    Residents can complete a survey online pointing out their priorities for the services and offer ways they believe potential savings could be made.

    More than 40 firefighters have tackled a fire at an industrial unit in Cornwall.

    Six appliances, a command vehicle, operational support vehicle, aerial platform, and welfare vehicle crews were called to the scene at the Newport Industrial Estate in Launceston after the alarm was raised at about 22:11 on Sunday.

    It was extinguished by 02:15.

    Since 2013, there have been more than 350 reports of antisocial behaviour and public safety incidents at Gabriel House. It is not known if these cases were in or just outside the property.

    Four out of the five people killed through domestic violence in Cornwall over the past five years were men where as nationally women made up more than half of the victims.

    Peter Clinch, pictured above, says he was "shocked and infuriated" when his brother Alan was killed by his wife with a pair of scissors in Liskeard in 2012. He's urging male victims to speak out.

  17. Man killed in Barnstaple car crashpublished at 08:13

    A man has died after his car crashed near Barnstaple, police say.

    The driver died at the scene of the crash on an unclassified road between Charlacott Cross and Prospect Corner, near Newton Tracey, at about 11:50 on Sunday.

    No other vehicles were involved, Devon and Cornwall Police said. An investigation is being carried out by the force's Serious Collisions Investigation Unit.
