    Torquay United midfielder Aman Verma is undergoing tests after collapsing at home after a training session.

    The 27-year-old was sick during a gym session last week and was taken ill again later in the evening.

    "He's very worried because he thought it was an off day, and it might just be a virus that has hit him hard. But with all that's gone on lately in football with things like heart problems we couldn't take any chances," Torquay manager Kevin Nicholson told BBC Sport.

    A Cornwall doctors leader says changes to junior doctors' contracts have been "poorly thought through" as medics go on strike today.

    Sebastian Wallace, a junior doctor and the BMA's representative in Cornwall, said: "The contract the government is proposing would spread the existing workforce thinner over seven days and it does not acknowledge that there is already emergency cover in hospitals. 

    The government says change is needed to ensure a genuinely 24/7 NHS.

    Two men are the first to be charged in Devon and Cornwall under new drug-driving legislation, external, police say.

    Mark Mitchell, 35, of Grassmere Way, Saltash, and Jeffrey Oduro, 23, of Central Avenue, Edmonton, have been charged with driving while over the prescribed drug limit - a new Section 5a Road Traffic Act offence. 

    Both men are due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on 25 February.

    The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, has told us it is "very prepared" for the junior doctors strike today.

    Medical Director, Adrian Harris, said: "We are postponing just over 240 outpatients and eight day-case procedures and six in-patient procedures," he said. 

    The dispute is over weekend working and changes to junior doctors' contracts.

    - The A395 has been closed between Hallworthy and Pipers Pool while a lorry is recovered from a ditch. 

    - The A38 in Bodmin has also been closed after an accident involving three vehicles near Carminow Cross. Emergency services are on scene.

    - At Temple on the A30 there is slow traffic and one lane is closed due to an accident eastbound near Blacktor Downs Road.

    - On the A3075 Newquay road at Rejerrah there is an accident at the Gwinear Lakes turning.

  9. Drivers on A30 warned to take care after freak hail stormspublished at 08:33 GMT 10 February 2016

    The police have contacted us to warn drivers to slow down after two separate accidents on the A30 between Bodmin and Launceston this morning.

    Very sharp hail showers resulted in two vehicles skidding off the road at Colliford Lake on Bodmin Moor earlier and a lorry has also slid off the road near Launceston, leaving one lane blocked eastbound.

    Junior doctors in Devon and Cornwall are taking part in a second day of industrial action, even though some of the region's hospitals are already on red or black alert as they struggle to cope.

    Members of the British Medical Association, external union are angry at government , externalplans to impose a new contract.  

    Dr Adrian Harris, medical director at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, external, says the hospital "is very prepared", but 14 operations have been cancelled and 240 outpatient appointments postponed.

    - In Barnstaple the A361 Taw Bridge is closed to high sided vehicles again due to strong winds, a diversion is in place 

    - There are Cross Country trains delays and cancellations to services between Plymouth and Newton Abbott due to a broken down train

    - In Launceston, on the A30 eastbound between Western Road and the Callington turn-off, one lane is blocked by an accident

    - Near Marshgate there are reports of an accident on the A39 near the turn for Marshgate.

    - At Downhead the A395 is partially blocked between Hallworthy and Pipers Pool due to an accident, near the turn for Laneast
