    Health and social care services in North, East and West Devon are likely to be £442m in the red by 2021 if nothing changes according to a document published today.  

    The Case for Change looks at the problems facing the health trusts that come under the NEW Devon Clinical Commissioning Group.

    It highlights the cost of community hospital beds, the amount health trusts spend on agency nurses and the difficulty recruiting staff to the South West.

    - Trains are now running normally between Liskeard and Looe following flooding between the stations.

    Torbay Royal Regatta says the Red Arrows are too busy to appear this year after 30 years of displays at the event.

    "The Red Arrows have a very hectic programme over the summer and a lot of organisations, air displays and regattas all bid for them and they are oversubscribed," said regatta spokesman Julian Chandler. The Red Arrows are yet to comment.

    Devon and Cornwall Police has been rated "good" for treating communities fairly and maintaining public confidence.

    But the watchdog, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, did make minor criticisms of the force's use of the Taser electric stun gun.

    Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer said: “To both our staff and the communities which we police and serve, this report shows Devon and Cornwall is doing everything possible to develop a fair and ethical culture."

    Comedian Mark Thomas ended his show Trespass at the Corn Exchange in Exeter with an invitation to the audience to join him in a demonstration against Exeter’s City Council’s proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), external for the city centre.

    The majority of the audience chose to follow him and were joined along the way by several homeless people against PSPOs which can be used to make it a crime to beg for money in certain areas.

  9. Four fire crews deal with caravan park blaze in Axminsterpublished at 09:07

    Four fire crews have been dealing with a blaze in a caravan park in Axminster.

    They were called to the park in Dalwood just after 02:00 GMT and found a fire in the campsite office and in a workshop used as a garage.

    The fire is thought to have been started accidentally and the buildings have been 50% damaged by fire.

    - In Modbury, the A379 is partially blocked by an accident near Church Lane.

    - On the A3072 in Bickleigh the road is partially blocked and there's slow traffic near the A396 Exeter Road junction, because of an accident.

    - On the Tamar Bridge eastbound in Saltash between the B3271 junction and the Pemros Road junction there's very slow traffic because of an earlier broken down vehicle.

  13. Plane propeller fell from 2,500ft off 80-year-old plane, says reportpublished at 08:10

    A pilot had to make an emergency landing after the propeller fell off his 80-year-old plane at 2,500ft, an accident report has found.

    Nick Chitterdon, 46, was the only person on board, and escaped uninjured after he made an emergency landing at a country club near Polzeath, Cornwall, in October last year.

    The Air Accidents Investigation Branch report said there was "a loud bang" and then "the pilot saw the propeller falling away".
