The acting chief executive of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has blamed poor staff survey results simply on the hospital being too busy.

He said they were doing a "great job" and he had experienced first-hand a much more positive moral.

Cornwall's scrutiny committee on health and adult social care has demanded answers from NHS England over future health care for thousands of people affected by the closure of Cardrew Health Centre.
The NHS wants the funds currently used for Cardrew in Redruth to go towards bolstering services at Redruth and Camborne Community Hospital instead.
But today managers presented their plans to an unimpressed committee of councillors, who have asked for proof that the health centre's closure won't impact on patients.

The results of the latest NHS staff survey show only 50% of people questioned say they'd be happy with the standard of care provided by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust if a friend or relative needed treatment.
Although this puts the RCHT in the lowest 20% of acute hospital trusts in England some of the results are significantly better than last year.
Sarah Woodward, from union Unison, said: "Staff are overworked and tired and that is shown in the results. The trust has to keep listening to their staff if they want to see an improvement."
